This business specialises in a niche market, commercial insurance products to medical malpractice
practitioners, attorneys and business rescue practitioners. Coming from a banking background,
Jonathan helped launch the Medical Malpractice product and aid in taking the product to market.
Jonathan has exceptional product knowledge from leading Insurers backed by leading Reinsurers.
• Being able to assist individuals in providing sound commercial and corporate advice to the plethora of
clients that Shackleton engages with. Jonathan has closed and built relationships with the largest
Business Rescue Practitioners in the country protecting them from gross negligence in terms of the
companies Act (SAA, Group 5, Edcon, Comair, Ster-Kinekor)

organisations, while facilitating new business transactions and preparing reports for reinsurers (Has
reinsurance exposure). Identifying client concerns, recommending solutions,

Senior Liability Manager 

Investec

Jonathan was employed by Investec Bank Ltd as a Private Banker in the medical specialist team
managing a base of around 500 Doctors.
• Daily Jonathan would liaise with support areas and product houses to meet clients’ needs for the
required transactions. Identify opportunities to fully bank the clients and cross-sell product offerings.
• Managing the conveyance pipeline, pay-outs of clients lending transactions, managing the cell’s
treasury book and drafting of documentation for clients – Building bonds / Vacant Land / Secured and
Unsecured loans.
• Identify Risk Management issues and understand the relevance of the documentation required.
Jonathan was also responsible for being aware of and taking appropriate actions on residuals,
recoveries and arrears.

Private Banker

Jonathan was employed by Investec Bank Ltd as a KYC/Regulatory Review consultant within the
Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) Sector and Private Bank.
• This scope of this role is based on Regulatory Compliance. My responsibilities included: Assessing
ownership structures and determining the documentation requirements for various entity types
(Trust’s, Private Companies and Public Companies etc.).
• Risk reporting. Providing and maintaining an exceptional level of client experience to the Corporate
and Institutional Banking client base, provide FICA advice to Internal Consultants, Private Bankers and
clients while keeping up to date and understanding FICA regulations.

The reason I chose to study an LLB degree, is that it is intrinsic to the legal profession and delves into various legal disciplines. As a South African, and being part of a developing society, I believe having such knowledge is pertinent, even more so due to South Africa's history of social injustice and inequality. 

I am an energetic and enthusiastic individual, who strives to make things happen as opposed to being a mere spectator. I challenge myself to accomplish all goals I have set for my career. I am an individual who faces life's encounters head on and have the ability to inspire others around me.
