I’m a Scorpio. I love long walks on the beach, movies and other cliches that let me seek genuine connections. Oh, you want to know about me at work? Okay, well here’s 10 things: 1. I’ve been an employment lawyer for the last 19 years. That’s 43% of my life. Yes I am a Millennial. Well actually maybe a Xennial. 2. I advise on complex people and HR issues, for some of the UK’s biggest employers. These range from people and process issues through to industrial relations and employee engagement matters. You know icky people stuff. 3. My main specialism is complex employment tribunal litigation. Let’s be honest, that’s where the good (and bad) stuff happens. 4. That means I’m an advocate too. So I like to ask questions. 5. I’ve been seconded in-house at one of the UK’s leading hospitality businesses. I therefore understand what clients want and need from their lawyers; from distressed purchase issues through to proactive, risk and litigation mitigation and planning. That even sounds good doesn’t it? 6. I also work in tech and innovation as a Product and Innovation Partner for our corporate clients. I can’t help with your random page breaks in Word though. 7. It means I don’t just deal with problems. It’s about working together to be more efficient and smarter in being tech-led, data driven and innovative in overcoming challenges and reaching clients’ potential. You might have 99 problems, but legal don’t need to be one. 8. I have lots of ideas. Some work related, some not. Doing so I join the dots between client service delivery and product innovation for our clients. You’ve seen Field of Dreams? Think “if we build it, they will come”, only with less Kevin Costner. 9. We get recognised for what we do too. Our Equality Act decision-making tool came as a runner-up in the Managing Partner Forum Awards for Best People Initiative. And the Product and Innovation Team came runner up as Most Innovative Firm of the Year at the British Legal Tech Awards 2022. Sometimes you have to let others come first. 10. I appear to be the 3rd most interesting Jon Gregson on Google. Go ahead and look. 11. I am not very good at basic numeracy. Still here?
