Here’s my journey in 568 words:

Started Pink’s 

Basically we started by working with Commercial and Residential Property Managers doing move out cleans for tenants, then moved on to other stuff like plumbing. 

Built some really cool systems to automate a lot of the outbound and other GTM activities which let me focus a lot on just making content and doing shit I enjoy 

Launched Not Your Dad’s Media with the mindset that content (video, written copy, infographics) is the only true language of the internet. And if brands don’t speak the language, you won’t make money from it. 

We’re fluent in this language 

Were building founder-led content engines to turn impressions and influence into real revenue 

Choosing a Co-Founder is more important than choosing a spouse

Paul Graham met Sam Altman when he was 21, and said something like:

"Holy shiiiiiiiiii when I was talking to Sam Altman I had this thought, 'oh this is what it would have been like to talk to Bill Gates at 21’"

Jury's still out on whether he said holy shiii at the start...

But, I had something similar happen when I met Injil Muhammad Jr. for the first time 

Kinda like: "wow, I'm glad I had the chance to meet this guy now before the entire world knows who he is"

Some cliff-notes on Injil:

- Studied Applied Mathematics undergrad at Harvard
- Did the Goldman Sachs thing in NYC, then went all in on being a founder 
- Founded a company called Buddle Platform - which helps companies retain Gen Z talent
- Went back to HBS to get his MBA... while building a startup full time
- Science fair kid - won a couple when he was younger. 
- Nerds out about Public Policy in his downtime.

There are very few people I've met that are equally technical as they are charismatic. 

They're few and far between... but these people usually turn out to be the most dangerous entrepreneurs.

Kade Hinkle has done something incredible...

The kids 18 years old, started posting on LinkedIn about his sales journey…

and he's been crushing. 

He's amassed almost 10,000 followers in a very short period of time, and more importantly, has been generating real SQL's for his company. 

People immediately resonated with his story, and he also happens to be a killer copywriter. 

But now, the craziest part... is that he’s become the face of a company doing over $15M in rev. 

Bonkers. 

Now this part feels obvious to me… 

But if your ICP lives on LinkedIn, and your SDR's are bringing in business by posting on the platform, then why the hell is the exec team not posting??

It’s like training for an Ironman but skipping the swim entirely.

You might crush the bike and run… but the race starts in the water - and if you can’t even get through the first leg, you never make it to the parts you trained for.

So here's what's what:

If someone writes a note in the LinkedIn connection request, I rarely respond. 

Unless that message says something like:

“What’s up big papa”
“I love you”
“Omg bald ppl are my favorite”
“How’d you get so funny, smart, and gorg?”
“Can we be best friends?”
“Wow you and Adam Levine look so much alike”
“Jordan help me with LinkedIn, pwetty pweasee”


So if you send a connection request with a note… and it doesn’t include one of the above, don’t bother

You’re allowed to be:

- Richer than me
- Younger than me 
- More successful than me
- better looking with more muscle than me

But you’re NOT allowed to be:

Younger AND more successful than me

It’s just simply not gonna fly.

Some very simple things that annoy me:

- Eating in the car
- The song All Star
- People still think birds are real 
- Singing during the national anthem
- When people stand up on a plane too early 
- When people say bet and facts un-ironically
- The fact that iMessage voice memos disappear 
- Aioli is literally just fancy and more expensive mayo 
- When Europeans talk shit about America (only we can do that)
- When you're in someone else's car, it's lightly raining, and the windshield wipers are moving way too fast. 
- A shitty LinkedIn strategy
- Most importantly, lists 

What'd I miss?

You can't stop me. I'm doing it. 

I'm putting my 6 current life goals on the internet for the entire world to see 

Personal, professional, you name it. 

Let's rip:

1) Add an extra 0 to the ARR

We’re going to scale Not Your Dad's Media to infinitum. Goal is to add an extra 0 in 6 months. 

Whatever the f*ck it takes. We're building the best LinkedIn content marketing machine that the internet has seen - and we're going to continue to rip. 

2) 10lbs of muscle 

I'm pretty fit - 6'0, 180 - can bench 225 for reps. But I've been saying I wanna put on lbs for a while and I've never really committed to it. 10 more lbs of lean muscle in the next 6 months, here we come

3) Get married + kiddos

People think this ones weird... but there's nothing more important in my life than to get married and have a bunch of kids. Not right now... but within the next 5 years. 

4) Muay Thai

Been training the past 6 months. It's a blast. Builds confidence. Good exercise. Plus, it helps to know how to fight when you need to. My goal is to be 10x better than I am right now (not very measurable, but still)

5) Meet one new founder every week

Ongoing goal - but there's no way that Not Your Dad's Media doesn't win if I keep creating relationships with founders.

6) Mentor someone less fortunate

I'm swimming downstream relatively speaking. Others aren't so lucky as I am. I'd love to mentor someone that has entrepreneurial dreams that didn't have the same opportunities as me. 

That's it folks 

Those are my goals/wishes

This was more of a journal entry than anything, but now you know:)

My friends and I met up last Saturday at 12pm for a sandwich and a beer.

Once we all met up, we promised to turn off our phones until sundown. 

Welp that didn't happen. 

Cause once sundown came, most everyone forgot and left their phones off till about 9pm. 

Highly recommend this. 

The Jews figured this out a few thousand years ago... and named it "Shabbat"

My friends might be late to the party, but hey, we made it. 

Disconnect every once in a while… it won’t kill ya🤷‍♂️

I got something to say. 

If your entire marketing/sales strategy relies on berating your competition, and sending DM’s like this to random people that comment on your posts…

I think you need to reevaluate your life decisions. 

I can’t believe there are grown ass men DMing stuff like this.

I'm so effing grateful. 

Grateful to be living in the best city in the world
Grateful to be born into the family I was born into. 
Grateful to having a functioning body and brain (brain is debatable).
Grateful to be born into a country that wants entrepreneurs to thrive 
Grateful to have clients that trust us to help them build their businesses.
Grateful to have a reallyyy incredible group of friends I can call at all hours 

Just know, if you're reading this, you won the fucking lottery. 

Not because my words are so beautiful 

But because you get the opportunity to make something of yourself and you're not a slave mining for cobalt in Africa. 

I get to live a life that my ancestors in the shtetls of Eastern Europe never could've imagined possible

So go kick ass and enjoy the best time on planet earth to be a human.

- 2-3 high quality, well written posts per wk will do 
- Links don't matter
- Make people giggle = engagement goes bonkers 
- Start by engaging with other people
- Counterintuitive POV's win
- Repurpose your top-performing posts

Most importantly... there are no rules. 

For everyone I've heard someone say: 

“you HAVE to write in this format”

…I can show 100 examples of someone winning by doing the opposite.

I met Carson Hoffman a few months ago in NYC

We did a coworking day at Mr Purple, shot the shit, made some content, etc. 

On that day in August I remember Carson saying something like “I’m gonna have an Ad on a Times Square billboard”

He had no plans or prospects to do so

Less than 3 months later this happens…

There’s a line in Think and Grow Rich that goes something like: 

“once you decide something’s with absolute conviction, the world rearranges itself to make it happen” 

I think this is a pretty cool example of that.

Story time

I met Skyler Birk-Stachon when I first moved to New York at a Tech Pickleball event. 

Super fun

Absolutely smoked him in pickle 
(Sorry but it’s true)

We became friends, even though he got smoked. 

We went to a brunch this past weekend with a few of my friends. 

He asked if anyone was dressing up for this brunch 

Me:  “Hell ya dude, it’s halloweekend, of course we’re all gonna dress up”

None of us dressed up

He showed up in a pickle costume

I giggled for 4hrs about it.
