-Coordinates with customers and internal teams to develop and implement new and improved systems, instructional practices, and processes to deliver special education services in a virtual school setting

Student Services Specialist (re-organization within Pearson)

-Lead the implementation of Special Education Administrative Services for assigned customers to ensure the delivery of FAPE for special population students;
-Ensure the success of each assigned Special Education Program by direct supervision of Special Education Managers and Assistant Supervisors;
-Monitor compliance and delivery of services and take necessary action to correct any issues;
Contribute to the continuous improvement departmental effort to constantly improve our services to students and customers; Serve as a school level interim Special Education Manager, as needed, for assigned customers

General Responsibilities:

-Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Special Education Managers and Assistant Managers;
-Model best practices for supervision by following departmental guidelines;
-Ensure that direct reports exhibit and maintain a high level of professionalism & customer service;
-Travel to schools, as needed, to enhance the customer service experience, enhance school relationships & provide hands on support; 
-Work with Human Resources to ensure all company policies and procedures are followed

-Supervise and manage a team of special education teachers including but not limited to evaluations, instruction, discipline, and professional development.
-Ensure compliance with special education processes & timelines with two different district authorizers.
-Interpret & articulate federal and Colorado special education regulations, policies, & procedures to principal, teachers, and parents;
-Implement and monitor the pre-enrollment process for enrolling students with IEPs.
-Implement standardized processes, forms and Connections Academy protocols for all special education procedures;
-Maintain a database of & relationships with private providers, community agencies, mental health clinics, district authorizers, etc;
-Implement procedures for placement, evaluation, assignment & re-evaluation of students with regard to the special education services program;
-Oversee &/or implement all aspects of Child Find referrals, IEP development, diagnostic assessments, & annual/tri-annual reviews.

-Conduct all school-based special education related meetings;
-Coordinate the set-up and delivery of IEP-mandated direct services to students, whether through direct in-house teacher intervention or contracted related services.
-Oversee the development, tracking, dissemination and proper implementation of IEP-mandated accommodations for students with disabilities during state testing events;
