Instituto de Telecomunicações

A complete outlier detection system based on dynamic Bayesian networks for longitudinal data was developed, known as MultivariatE Time sEries OutlieR (METEOR). METEOR is made available online through a web application in https://meteor.jorgeserras.com/ for any endeavor together with supplementary information.

The study had the aim of providing further research and resources into the detection and modeling of anomalous behavior in multivariate temporal data. A complete system was built to handle multivariate time series from pre-processing to score-analysis, with special analysis of data concerning cancer patients with bone metastasis provided by the CancerSys/PERSEIDS team at Hospital Santa Maria.

Such was developed with the acknowledgment of funding from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia - FCT) under contracts IT (UID/EEA/50008/2019) and INESC-ID (UID/CEC/50021/2019), and by projects PREDICT (PTDC/CCI-CIF/29877/2017), PERSEIDS (PTDC/EMS-SIS/0642/2014), and NEUROCLINOMICS2 (PTDC/EEI-SII/1937/2014).

My name is Jorge Serras and I am a devoted open-source developer and engineer hailing from Lisbon, Portugal. I am always exploring new technology-related areas, retaining knowledge of numerous scopes from Web Development and Data Science to Machine Learning. I finished my Master's Degree in Electrical and Computers Engineering in Control and Decision Systems. My master's thesis involved developing an outlier detection system for multivariate temporal data suited to a wide range of applications.
