I produce webinars in digital health for thought leadership and networking, focusing on pain points in the industry and telling people something they don't already now.

Some of my events, such as the new Digital Health Africa series, are pro bono. But most of my work is on a consultancy basis.

Every client has different needs, I build a bespoke approach working with their product, marketing and business development teams to develop LinkedIn funnels that achieve their goals while also serving the digital health community with educational content in the process.

Why should startups care about partnerships with the public sector?

These partnerships are hard, take a lot of work and are fraught with peril but they have the potential to create the most value.

Rachel Dunscombe kicked off the event beautifully with this message. She laid an excellent foundation that the following speakers built on and a delivered a powerful closing message to the event as well.

Based on the chat messages during the event many startups are intimidated by these partnerships, the long timelines, uncertainty and costs involved.

Some startups feel that public partnerships aren't worth exploring.

But as our speakers such as Eric Doherty pointed out there are sources of funding availability that startups can tap into.

Is research enough? Rachel Dunscombe advocates for playing an active role in industry conversations and building relationships around that.

This resonates with me. You learn more from active conversation where you can test your assumptions. Combining that with creating partnerships will teach you even more and surface opportunities.

The open standards of health data Rachel Dunscombe advocates for here is certainly where the puck is going. The health tech industry as a whole will probably move from point solutions to interconnected ecosystems.

Healthcare orgs, procurement nightmares, interoperability issues, value based care and agentic AI are all driving the industry in this direction.

Don't wait for the change, be part of it. Learn, talk and build with like minded people.

This event set a record, 254 people registered in the first 24 hours.

Last year I was over the moon when a webinar I produced got 96 registrations on the first day, now I'd be concerned if the result was that low.

Healthcare and storytelling are intertwined. People are consuming and cocreating story all the time.

People who know me are familiar with me banging on about the importance of storytelling and narrative.

One thing I haven't stressed is that story isn't a "one and done". It's not something you create, push out and then remains static. Stories in healthcare are living things, eople are telling, retelling, modifying them all the time. 

Realize that, encourage it and make that part of your leadership.

It's worth stressing that the trust and health AI only became a major topic of discussion in the industry this year.

In the summer of 2024 there were only two obscure white papers on the subject.

I say that to stress that this conversation hasn't matured and while research is being conducted and policies are being formed they it is all very early days.

More disciplines are leaning in. I'm looking forward to interviewing a health economist who is doing some interesting work on the subject later this month.

In a conversation today with Dr Natasha Dole (featured) today I asked her for her POV. She works in "Accidents and Emergency" which is "ER" in American.

In her answer I was reminded of something Ekanjali Dhillon told me "let joy be the compass". A good indicator that AI is adding value is whether or not it makes the people using the tools happier and reduces their stress.

"Making doctors happy" may not have a budget or even be tracked as a KPI but I think it's a valuable north star.

I found Natasha very insightful she has agreed to speak in the afterparty to Technology Rivers "Health AI Agents: What Does it Take to Succeed?" on the 18th of November.

Is Health Tech becoming a services industry? John-Paul Crofton-Biwer (featured) makes the case and walks us through the paradigm shift that involves.

Something John-Paul says really struck me. He poses this question in response to much of the content I've produced on building trust in health AI.

"How much are you investing in the relationship?"

For me this question is part of a whisper trail. I'm hearing this sentiment expressed by multiple people (albeit in different ways)

This might make a good subject for a future webinar. What do you think?

Front and centre of every partnership is data sharing. This is a gordian knot of a problem that no single LinkedIn post can cut through.

A good first step is surfacing everyone's why. You know you're why, but do you know you understand your counterparties why as well as you think you do? 

Because everyone in these partnerships thinks about data differently and those differences aren't always obvious.

Health AI adoption amongst Latinos and Hispanics is low. Trust is the issue, community understanding and engagement is the key.

Trust isn't "a thing" it's foundational.

I had a great conversation with Val Alexandre Torres MD, MBA (featured) last night about running events in this space and building trust.

Something many don't realize is that there was almost no industry conversation about trust in Health AI last year. 

I produced a webinar on the subject last September. During the event Anastasiya Markvarde pointed out that it was the first event of its kind and there were only two whitepapers available on the subject.

That changed three months later when Brian Thompson was murdered, industry conversation on trust in Health AI spiked then and has grown since.

There's a lot of work to be done, and it will take years. This conversation is just beginning.

Rather than paraphrase Sarah I'll give you a simple heuristic of my own.

Are you learning new things about them that isn't publicly available?

This is probably the single most important binary choice variable that indicates whether your first meeting was successful.

I'm celebrating Talk Coded's first birthday with a cheeky clip.

This webinar was very special, it was the "coming out" of my Star Wars storytelling heuristic, one that I'd used privately for a long time but never expressed publicly.

It was my first webinar afterparty, which have now become a staple.

And it was when I started expressing the "how" to storytelling and narrative in a health tech context in a simple and accessible way. 

I think this very important, everyone understands why storytelling is important but they get bogged down in the how. It's my belief that what is needed first and foremost is the creativity to keep it simple.

Creativity is subtraction.

Why are you here? Why should anyone care? Why should they engage with you?

Shereese Maynard, MS, MBA spelled out the "why equation" during her spotlight in SenzMate's Health AI: Public Private Partnership Uses cases event this week before she presented an interesting use case of how she applied this equation to build a digital health partnership with the public sector in Oman.

This was a winning formula, having each speaker provide a bit of advice (I arranged them in a narrative arc) followed by an illustrative use case. I'm going to be using this format more in future in these events.

The afterparty to this event was very lively. We don't include the afterparties in the replay (we want to encourage people to speak without the spectre of their comments appearing on youtube).
