'Development of a novel explant culture system for studying the mechanobiology of osteoarthritis'

The aim of this project was to develop an explant (mouse hemi-joints) culture system that allows: (i) at least 6 days of culturing of intact bone and cartilage tissue of mouse femur head explants; and (ii) to examine molecular mechanisms involved in on-set of osteoarthritis triggered by mechanical trauma.

Consorcio Hospitalario Provincial de Castellón

In this summer internship I worked in the molecular pathology unit, Provincial Hospital of Castellon, Castellon de la Plana, Spain. The unit was primarily in-charge of the diagnostic of viral and bacterial infections and diagnostic of different types of tumours of the hospital, and it was therefore useful for me to learn various detection / diagnostic techniques such as PCR, qPCR, FISH and DNA sequencing.
