Joe brings a wide and nuanced understanding of people, places, and politics. He spent time living and working in Madrid and Frankfurt and understands how to navigate delicate communications barriers and engage different audiences. His Master’s degree in Diplomacy from the University of Birmingham and keen interest in current affairs adds a layer of detailed understanding of the political landscape and news cycle to Energy Systems Catapult. Before joining Energy Systems Catapult, Joe worked with Copper Consultancy (specialists in communications and engagement in the infrastructure sector), Camargue, and the largest PR agency in Birmingham by revenue, WPR. Joe handled B2B public relations, crisis communications, stakeholder engagement, and creative storytelling. Joe has worked with nationally significant clients including National Grid and National Highways, and has worked with a diverse range of renewable energy generators including RWE and JBM Solar. During his time at Copper Consultancy, Joe spearheaded the launch of the first ‘digital-first’ public consultation for the £3.5 billion London Resort project – the first project of its kind to receive NSIP status. He has built up an extensive commercial and PR experience base through his work with clients such as Worcester Bosch, Bosch Commercial and Industrial, Turner & Townsend, the Mineral Products Association, CKDelta, JBM Solar, RWE, and National Grid’s Hinkley Connection Project.
