You can learn a lot from my four decades of experience. My career has spanned many types of jobs, has been given various titles, and has taken me across the globe. The one consistent feature has been managing resources and leading people. Very few scenarios involved traditional program or project management tenets, but my success comes from understanding those fundamental concepts and adapting them to the unique environments and situations I encounter. I do not follow bandwagons or promote the latest fads. I do look at novel ways to make basic management principals work, including the misunderstood fields of risk management and quality control. I tear down claims that falsely twist or repurpose terms and ideas such as Agile. I refuse to abandon tried-and-true ways of doing things just because they need a little tweaking (what I call "throwing the baby out with the bathwater") and I preach that you cannot think outside the box without first understanding the box.
