My name is Joseph Marmolejo. I am an experienced visual artist, a life-long student, and a young father crafting my voice as a creative storyteller. As a results-driven communications and marketing professional, I have a demonstrated history of growing brands and increasing lead volume. With nearly a decade of content generation experience, I use my storytelling to craft narratives and content that support branding and SEO strategies in order to drive website traffic every day. In 2013, my sister handed me a camera and referred me to work at her photography studio. I had just graduated from high school and was the youngest photographer on staff. I have had an invaluable skill ever since. School portrait photography was my introduction to the digital world professionally. I developed my skills as a visual artist at Humboldt State University where I graduated with a BA in Journalism and Mass Communications in 2017, emphasizing in Public Relations. Humboldt State’s journalism program offered me opportunities to create and find my voice as a storyteller. The program was designed so that the class work I produced could be used as tangible portfolio content. Every single activity assigned was able to be translated to practical media experience. I used my visual media skills and storytelling training to establish social media strategies for the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Unified Greek Council, Humboldt State Athletics, the Lumberjack student newspaper, and KRFH student-run radio. After a few stints at various radio stations and photography studios, I found an opening at Salon Success Academy. I was hired as the Social Media Specialist in 2018 and was promoted to become the Director of Marketing & Communications in March 2020 because of my ability to communicate during the pandemic. Monthly Enrollments have increased by more than double since taking over this role and Salon Success Academy’s digital presence is unmatched because of the content generations strategies employed. I’m skilled in photography, videography, audio and podcasting, graphic design, social strategy, corporate website management, Microsoft office, adobe creative suite, brand development, SEO principles, asset management, paid media management, reputation management, traditional marketing, WordPress management, and more. As a passionate student, I am constantly learning and experimenting with new techniques, mediums, and technologies in order to grow as much as I can. I am open to learning about new opportunities in the digital marketing, higher education, or sports industries.
