I don’t really care about the debate around using AI to write versus not using AI to write. You can spend four hours crafting a 200-word post from scratch. Or you can spend three minutes getting a rough foundation down with the help of AI and another minute shaping it with your own judgment and nuance. The tool is irrelevant.

What matters is whether the writing works. Good writing does three things:

a. It captures attention.

c. And it gets someone to act.

If it earns attention, nurtures it, and moves someone to act, it did its job. Everything else is fluff and deserves zero attention.

Today, we announce and introduce Orbit’s community for writers.  

For the last three months, once a week, we sent out a list of writing opportunities. Freelance. Part-time. Full-time. Work that existed and writers who needed to see it.

What surprised me wasn’t the response to the jobs themselves. It was everything around them: the replies, the follow-ups, the side conversations. Writers asking how to approach a role, who the hiring manager really was, whether a company was worth the effort. 

Over time, it became obvious that the problem-at-hand was in fact, isolation. 

Writing online gives the illusion of proximity - to opportunity, to audience, to other writers - but in practice, most people are doing this work alone. No real sense of where they stand or where they could go next.

So we decided to evolve Orbit into what it probably should have been from the start: a community.

Orbit is now an exclusive space for writers who already do the work and want more leverage from it over time. Inside Orbit, we’re doing a few things deliberately, including but not limited to:

1. Sharing daily writing opportunities, not weekly digests, sourced by our team and people we trust. 

2. Making white-glove introductions to companies and hiring managers when there’s a real, clear fit.  

3. Hosting weekly conversations with marketing directors and editorial leads so writers can hear how hiring actually works, not how it’s talked about online. 

4. Facilitating 1:1 peer connections, based on common interests.

I had one of the best conversations I’ve had in a while, the other day, with a prospective client.

We talked shop for maybe twenty minutes. At minute 21, he paused, stared straight into the screen, almost like he was trying to place something. A few seconds passed. Then he asked, “Wait… where do I know you from?”

We played a quick game of human geography. Granted, we attended the same university, overlapping semesters, a handful of mutual friends - some IRL, some only through LinkedIn. Nothing clicked right away.

Then he snapped his fingers.

“Oh. That’s it. I’ve been seeing your content for the past four months.” He told me a friend had sent him one of my posts when he stepped into a new executive role. He followed me then. Kept seeing the writing. Never reached out. Never commented.

To him, it was a throwaway realization. A passing detail in a busy week. To me, it meant everything.

2025 recap:

This past year was formative for our company’s vision, but also infrastructure. 

I’m blessed to share that Notice Me(dia) grew largely through word of mouth and referrals from existing clients and partners in our network. We focused on expanding horizontally - adding product offerings that gave our existing customers more leverage through content (as elaborated on below). At the same time, we strengthened our sales organization and tightened our backend editorial operations (s/o Sakshi ✨.). The goal remainss make the experience better for the people who already trusted us, and build a system that could support that trust at scale.

Launched Orca - our $999/month LinkedIn writing service for  teams less than 3 people. We are now 7 team members, having served ~70 clients. Been a blessing building alongside Jacob and watching him grow - in real-time - as a first-time ceo. 

Launched Facto - our case studies offer. Launching this was special because Meri was my first teammate at Notice Me(dia). Building this - offering our clients additional leverage - has been fun. 

Launched Orbit - one of the most fun and fulfilling projects I’ve had the honour of building. What started, two months ago, as a weekly job board serving 15,000+ writers is now evolving into a community (reach out for more details on that!). Cool to be building alongside a fellow young and hungry operator, Yathin. 

A lot of this was enabled by something less visible but equally important: writing in public. Over the course of the year, my own content generated:

- 1.3m impressions
- 12,073 new followers
- 13,427 unique profile visitors

A lot of you have probably been seeing Jacob’s content show up on your feed lately. I’ve only told this story once before, but it’s a fun one: how he and I started working together, and what the past year has looked like since.

I was caught in a doom-scroll session on Twitter one night when I came across a post from a younger-looking fellow, with a familiar last name. I don’t remember the exact post, but it had something to do with online writing. That alone caught my attention. Back then, it was rare to see someone my age genuinely interested in this world (before everyone became a ‘LinkedIn guru). 

So I did what anyone would do. I found his LinkedIn, sent him a message, played a bit of people geography, and we hopped on a call.

We talked about how we both fell into the world of writing, how I took a gap year in the same program - in the same year - as his first cousin, and our mutual desire to take over the world (a little cliché, but what else do 19- and 21-year-olds talk about, right?)

After that, I started referring Jacob to clients we’d worked with in the past whenever they needed help beyond what we were doing. But if you’ve ever interacted with Jacob - especially in your DMs, you know how this part goes. He kept showing up in mine. Asking questions. Things like how many clients we were working with exactly, how we thought about pricing, how we structured packages.

The truth was, I was still figuring most of that out myself.

Less than a month later, Jacob joined our team as our first business hire. Up until that point, it was just me firing off DMs. He came in with one goal: amplify what was working and help us execute more creatively and consistently.

History did the rest. And if you’re reading this and have ever had Jacob “hunt you down” in your inbox, you already know how good he got at it.

Today, he leads our sales function and also runs one of our core offers at Orca, having worked with 83 client in year 1.

So to everyone who’s asked me where they can “find a Jacob” - there you have it!

A small shift that makes a massive difference for executives who share content: Stop reacting to news, and interpreting it. Here’s what that means:

Anyone can be the sixth source to repost an article or summarize what already happened. That adds nothing. What does add value is taking the event and layering in your point of view - the context only YOU have from actually being in the work.

The news tells people what happened. Your job is to explain why it matters, what it signals, or what everyone is missing, from your unique lense. 

It’s a subtle distinction. But in the world of thought leadership, it’s the difference between fluffy noise and relevance.

We launched the Orbit community a week ago. A few early notes while it’s still fresh:

1. Communities only work when they deliver tangible value. Free or paid, it doesn’t really matter - although it matters more when people are paying. What people are actually trading is their time and attention, and they want to feel that exchange is worth it.

Because we’ve worked closely with writers for a long time, the value prop felt clear early on. The two biggest pain points we kept hearing were inconsistent deal flow and a quiet sense of isolation. So we built Orbit to directly address those:

- Daily job roundups, some pulled from other boards and some sourced directly through our network. 

- Bi-weekly fireside chats and webinars with comms, marketing, and editorial leaders. 

- Bi-weekly resources. 

- One-to-one peer matching based on shared interests. 

- White-glove introductions to hiring managers when there’s a real fit.

2. You need a real game plan from day one. Yathin and I spent a lot of time building out a week-one activation plan before we ever opened the doors. Did we execute it perfectly? No. But we were intentional about creating momentum early, even if that meant nudging people to participate and contribute. 

Communities die quickly if the roots aren’t properly nurtured. 

3. There’s so much work happening behind the scenes that members will (and probably should) never see. Launching this has given me a deep appreciation for people who’ve built enduring communities. Acquisition is hard. Retention is harder. And both demand a level of care that’s easy to underestimate until you’re in it.

We’re still early! Still learning, iterating.

We’ve been chewing on a new internal framework to think about content lately. We call it being “nonchalantly-chalant”. 

When you look at how most executives post on LinkedIn, they usually fall into one of two extremes: 

On one end, you have hyper-optimized writing - choppy one-line paragraphs, forced pacing, posts engineered to appease an algorithm that no one truly understands. 

On the other end, you have people who pride themselves on “not caring,” writing long, uninterrupted blocks of text as if structure itself were a compromise. The truth is, neither approach works particularly well.

There’s a middle ground between the two. One where you respect the reader without obsessing over performance. Where you understand that readability matters - not because of the algorithm, but because humans are skimming between meetings, flights, and obligations. Paragraph breaks are simply a reader’s courtesy.

Being nonchalant about your content doesn’t mean being careless. Rather, it means writing for the pleasure of writing. It means sharing ideas because you feel compelled to express them, which comes through. Readers can feel when something was written to be said, not to be seen.

The “chalant” part is more subtle. It’s in the details - the craft, specificity, dates, times. 

The detail that proves you were actually there. You might write longer stretches when you’re exploring one idea, grouping thoughts together intentionally, then give the reader a clean break when you shift to the next one. The structure supports the thinking, not the other way around.

Nonchalantly-chalent. I like it.

The first post that blew up on my LinkedIn was a story about how I jumped into a thorn bush.

I was in Miami in December 2024 with Josh and a few friends for Christmas. I’d only been working with him for three months at that point so it was purely a fresh professional relationship and I was still trying to prove myself.

We were playing “Monkey in the Middle” near the beach and I was in the ‘middle.’ Someone threw the ball near me and it landed in a bush covered in thorns. The usual move would have been to use a stick to fish it out, but I wanted to show him that I was willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, so I just dove in straight. I came out bleeding with my arms scratched up and legs cut, holding the ball proudly. I think I’d proved that I wasn’t someone who would wait around for things to be convenient.

The next week, I wrote a post about it, talking about how I bring the same energy to every client and project. It got tens of thousands of impressions, dozens of comments, and people commending me for my valiant effort.

Telling you rn that if I got new Orcas every time I jumped into a thorn bush, I’d do it weekly.
