“Did you lose weight, Ratna?”
9 out of 10 people I meet say that recently. 

The truth is - I did.

But that’s not the transformation I’m most proud of.

Fun fact:
I used to be the chubby girl with big dreams and even bigger self-doubt. 🥲
Low self-esteem.
Louder inner critic.
And a belief that worth came only after proving, pleasing, and perfecting.

I thought:
❌ Confidence came in size S
❌ Love came after approval
❌ Worth was something you had to earn by shrinking yourself

So I chased:
⛔ External validation
⛔ Acceptance
⛔ Approval

I dimmed myself to avoid conflict.
I disrespected my own boundaries.
I pleased others to avoid being rejected.

Until one day, I stopped trying to “fix” myself…
And started coming home to myself.

I peeled back layers of insecurity.
Sat with the shame.
Looked my imposter syndrome in the eye.

With kindness and compassion ♥️

And slowly
Through the cracks - I saw light. 💫

I learned to:
✨ Own my whole story (the good, bad and the ugly)
✨ Speak kindly to my inner child that needs love 
✨ Invest in healing, growth, and my spiritual evolution 

Today?
I still feel chubby 😂
Still work in progress.
Still imperfect. 

But I still dream bigger.
I love and accept myself fully. 
I take up space unapologetically.

That’s the real transformation.
Not what changed outside,

I’ve never felt this sick in a long time. 🫠

Slept 36 hours over the past 3 days.
Curled up in pain.
No appetite. 
No energy.

Today, I finally feel better. 
Decided to step out.
Felt the breeze on my face.
Breathing in and say to myself.. 

“I’m so grateful to be alive.” 🙏

That down moment felt sacred.
Because when your body crashes
It’s never just physical.
It’s emotional.
It’s energetic.
It’s your body’s way of saying - “Please listen.”

So I did.

I made friends with my pain.
Asked it gently : 

🔹“What have I been holding on to?”
🔹“What are you here to show me?”
🔹“What is it time to let go?”

Tears came.
Unspoken fears.
Lingering anxiety.
Old emotions I didn’t even know were still there.

I held space for all of it.
I didn’t rush.
I just sat with it.

I see you.
I acknowledge you.
I release you with love.

And just like that… I felt lighter.

We often think rest is doing nothing.
But this kind of rest?
This is deep healing.

Our health is our wealth.
Our energy is our wealth.
Our emotions are messengers.

When we pause to listen,
That’s when the true healing begins. ❤️‍🩹

Taking things slow for now.

I didn’t grow up speaking English.
Now I use my voice to help others shine.

When I first moved to Singapore at 17,
I could barely string a sentence together.

→ Every job interview was a panic attack.
→ Every conversation felt like a test.
→ Every room I walked into…
I felt too small to matter.

It wasn’t just the language.
⤷ It was the pressure to prove myself.
⤷ The shame of being misunderstood.
⤷ The weight of trying to belong in a world that made me feel invisible.

💔 I remember crying after someone mocked my accent.
💔 I remember nodding in meetings while secretly lost.
💔 I remember standing in front of a crowd, frozen… thinking:
“Why am I even here? I’m not good enough.”

But I kept going.

📚 I studied.
🗣️ I joined Toastmasters.
💻 I said “yes” to every chance to speak even when I wanted to run away.
💡 I did the inner work to heal my inner critic and find my own voice.

And slowly, something shifted.

✨ The shy Indonesian girl who once hid in the back… 
⤷ spoke on TEDx.

✨ The girl who once doubted her every word
⤷ became a LinkedIn Top Voice.

✨ The girl who once just wanted to survive… 
⤷ built a business helping others to shine.

3 years ago, this was just a dream! 

Today, I celebrate 31,000 LinkedIn followers.

Not because of the number 
But because of what it represents:

Growth. Courage. Healing. Community. ✨

I didn’t realise how rusty my Bahasa had gotten 😂

And I almost said no.

When Dr. Tony Setiobudi a highly sought-after orthopaedic & spine surgeon with nearly 800K YouTube subscribers, invited me on his podcast, 
my inner imposter screamed:

“What could I possibly share that would matter to his audience?”

But this conversation reminded me of something powerful 👇

He wasn’t a natural on camera.

And honestly
This isn’t the first time.

Strangers literally slide into my DMs almost every week asking me to like their posts.

As if I owe them money 

I mean… really? 😂

Here’s the thing:
I love cheering people on. 
I believe in supporting others.  

Especially those just starting out on LinkedIn.

Afterall we are all human being 
Who needs encouragement and validation, right?  

But let’s be real 
Our value doesn’t drop just because someone didn’t hit “like.” 🙏

Because here’s the uncomfortable truth:
👉🏻 You can rack up thousands of likes, but if you’re constantly chasing external validation…
👉🏻 You’ll always feel like something’s missing inside.

Because.. 

❤️ The most powerful validation doesn’t come from others.
⤷ It comes from within.

When you:
✅ Honour your own efforts
(even if nobody sees them)

✅ Celebrate the small wins
(even if no one claps)

✅ Give yourself credit 
(even when no one else does)

You build self-trust.
And that becomes your biggest anchor.

That no one can takeaway from you! 

So if you’re posting from the heart 
Even when it’s quiet out there.
Even when the algorithm is playing hide-and-seek 🙈🫣

Keep going.
You’re doing amazing already.

Not a date you imagined 😜

But with… my money honey.🍯

See, when people hear I’m Indonesian Chinese, they assume I grew up on a bed of 🌹 and caviar. (Well I’m not a supercoolben 😂) 

Reality?
My childhood was wrapped in scarcity. 

My earliest memory of money?
Quarrels. Tension. Tears.

This little girl grew up believing:
💰 Money is hard to get 
💰 Money brings conflict
💰 Money is the root of evil

No wonder I repelled money like it carried my childhood trauma.

And no surprise I used to hate sales too - same energy.

But here’s the thing:
Money is energy.
And if your energy screams “I don’t trust you,”
Money won’t stick around either.

It wasn’t until I quit my job and faced zero monthly income…

That I finally asked myself:
“What if I tried loving money instead of fearing it?”

So I did the weirdest, most magical thing:

I started dating my money.

I sat down.
Have an honest conversation with my money 

Cheesy? 🧀 
Yes. 😂

Healing?
Absolutely.

I rewrote my money stories.
I stopped ghosting my finances.
I began treating money like a partner, not a problem.

Now, every “date” I have with money brings me more clarity, calm… and even cashflow. 

Because when you have a good relationship with money 

You stop clinging in anxiety
And start welcoming it with trust.

My name, Ratna, actually means “Gem” in Sanskrit. 

And over the years, I’ve learned:

Your personal brand isn’t something you fake or fabricate.
⤷ It’s something you uncover.
Deep within yourself. 

It’s not about becoming someone you’re not.
⤷ It’s about owning what’s already within:
❤️ Your story.
💛 Your voice.
💚 Your energy.

You don’t need to go viral.
You need to go inward.

Because the truth is 
Your past experiences, your strengths, your scars, your spark 
⤷ That’s what makes you irreplaceable.

💡 Personal branding isn’t a performance.
⤷ It’s permission to be seen, heard, and felt… as you are.

And that’s exactly WHY I started The Mindgem

“Wait… do you do well-being or LinkedIn personal branding?”

I get this question a lot. 😅
And honestly? I used to ask myself the same.

When I started my business, my mission was clear:
🪷Champion well-being from the inside out.

But life unfolded in the most unexpected (and magical) way.

A dear friend recently said:
“It’s fascinating to see how you went from well-being workshops to LinkedIn personal branding. It’s so different - yet looks so natural on you!”

I laughed. 😂 Because deep down?
It still feels surreal.

Truth is 
I struggled with an identity crisis. 🫥

I didn’t plan to coach people on LinkedIn branding.

I was simply documenting my journey…
One post at a time.

Scared.
Vulnerable.
Unsure if anyone would even care.

Then, some of my posts took off.
I was named a LinkedIn Top Voice (still feel surreal).

And messages started pouring in:
“Can you help me build my personal brand too?”

So I followed the nudge:
👉🏻 Created workshops
👉🏻 Built frameworks
👉🏻 Coached others to own their voice and story

My clients began:
☑ Finding their voice
☑ Attracting dream clients
☑ Getting spotlighted by LinkedIn
☑ Growing their confidence and business

But here’s the truth:
The heart of my work never changed.

✨ My mission is to help people shine at work and in life.

And for me, well-being and personal branding are simply tools.

⚒️ Tools that help people : 
⤷ Reconnect with themselves
⤷ Step into their power
⤷ Shine brighter than they ever thought possible.

✨Mission: Same.
🚘Vehicle: Evolved.

And what my clients appreciate most?
It’s the energy behind it all - grounded, intentional, purpose driven. 

Not just strategy. 
But energy.

Not just visibility. 
But alignment.

So if you’re in the middle of your own pivot, wondering “Who am I now?” - try this:

⤷ They’re your guiding light—through every reinvention.

What if you don’t have to choose one path?

What if your power is in embracing all of who you are?

Double the joy.
Double the alignment.
Double the impact.

What nobody tells you about building a business:

🔻You’ll stress about paying your team before paying yourself.
🔻You’ll worry when the next paycheck comes in.
🔻Your rest days? They come with a side of guilt.
🔻Your cushy 9–5? It becomes a messy 24/7.
🔻You’ll fear letting down your parents.

But here’s what they also don’t tell you:

🔺 You’ll turn your fear into fuel.
🔺 You’ll learn to trust yourself more than ever.
🔺 You’ll unlock a version of you that thrives under pressure.
🔺 You’ll build something that’s not just profitable but purposeful.
🔺 And you’ll realize… you are no longer just working for a paycheck 

You’re working for a bigger mission that matters.

It’s hard.
It’s heart work. ♥️

But it’s also the most alive you’ll ever feel.

I wouldn’t trade this for any other way! 

P.S : Entrepreneurs, coaches - what’s something you wish they told you before you started? 💬

Most solopreneurs never learn to treat themselves like their most important client.

I know I didn’t. Not at first.

I poured into everyone else : 
🔹Clients
🔹Collaborators
🔹Team

But when it came to my own business? 
I’d hesitate on spending, delay upgrades, downplay investments.

Until I learned this:
⤷ If I want to serve at my highest, I have to invest in my foundations.

So I did.

I didn’t sign up for World Card to win football tickets.

I signed up to support my team, pay vendors, and invest in tools to grow as a facilitator : 
 💼 Workshops.
 🧩 Assessments.
 🎨 Creative supplies like Lego blocks

But here’s the funny thing about life:
When you move with purpose
⤷ The universe often moves with you.

Turns out, every dollar I spent on building others up…

I was just trying to find a surgeon 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ 

But ended up doing a Personal Brand audit. 🤭

Occupational Hazard lol 😂

(Yes, I’m okay - just sorting out something that needs a specialist.)

As I scrolled through bios, clinics, and reviews…

I noticed something fascinating.

🧑🏻‍💻 60% had polished websites.
✨ Clean bios.
📈 Great credentials.

But the ones who stood out?

🪄 Were the ones who shared more than just what they do.

One talked about serving in the army.
Another proudly shared his HYROX race experience.

Suddenly… they weren’t just “surgeons.”👩‍⚕️

They were humans I felt connected to.
With values, grit, and passions that spoke to mine.

It reminded me of a question my clients often ask me : 

“Should I really share personal things on LinkedIn?”

Here’s my take:
No, You don’t need to share everything.
But you do get to choose what’s meaningful to you.
✅ Set your own safe boundaries.
✅ Let your story make the connection

Because here’s the truth:
Your personal story isn’t a distraction.
It’s often the reason people trust you.

🫶🏻 We don’t just buy services.
We buy people first. 

Some clients choose me not because of my credentials

But because:

✔️ They were looking for a female coach they felt safe with
✔️ They saw their struggles in mine
✔️ They trusted me to walk the journey with them

In a crowded marketplace…

✨ Your story is your superpower.
✨ Your humanness is your magnet.
✨ And you are the right fit for someone out there who’s not just looking for a service…

…but the real human they could resonate with.
