Calculations Analyst

Colmore

- Notably worked on a key, high profile project to develop a new enterprise data warehouse to meet the needs of the growing business portfolio, data sets and requirements of clients. 

This required understanding of the existing data warehouse and setup and to identify the dimensions, facts, attributes and relationships to be built into dimensional models in the most efficient way. This also entailed assessment of Star Schema models against Snowflake schema’s, Data Vault methodology, and two-tier models against three-tier models with regards to performance efficiency and maintenance. 

- Other notable projects include migration of external clients from the old IWP system to Colmore’s new Helios data analytics platform

Business Analyst

ReAssure

- Experience on a variety of different projects including large scale migrations, finance, actuarial and technical ALPHA projects. 

- Applied industry standard Business Analysis techniques to gather business requirements for complex 
business changes and documented business needs, system processes and user interactions

- Lead stakeholder workshops to define the scope, constraints, risks and needs of a project to ensure the project delivers a pragmatic solution.

- Experience with both Waterfall and Agile delivery methods.

- Vast experience using SQL to interrogate and analyse data via ReAssure's ALPHA platform

- Developed a vast network across the business, having previous experience in various areas of the project lifecycle

- Currently working towards the BCs Business Analysis Diploma

As a Technical Test Lead within the Calculations and Finance Assurance team, i am responsible for leading a sub team of analysts to drive delivery of several high profile projects for the business.

In my role, at any one time i have lead up to 10 Test Analysts across 7 different projects.

Key tasks within this role include:
   - Providing guidance on broad test strategies for projects, and technical support to analysts
   - Oversight of the full test lifecycle including creation of test scripts, understanding of test requirements and calculation specifications, test execution, defect management, support with life and pensions product knowledge and more
   - Regular reporting and discussions with department managers, executives and other key stakeholders
   - General stakeholder management when working alongside functional test areas, project managers, business analysts etc.

Technical Test Lead

As the only Senior Test Analyst in a team of over 20 analysts, my responsibilities included ownership of all governance controls and processes, leading analysts on projects providing both technical support and coaching, representing the team in meetings with the wider business and much more.

Some key tasks included:

- Production of test plans and test scripts in accordance with business requirements and
calculation specifications
- The use of PL/SQL to interrogate the ALPHA system and to construct policy selections
- Understanding of system calculation methodology and life and pensions products in order to carry out test execution
- Extensive analysis and testing of Manual Calculation tools, expected results sheets and
projected results sheets

As part of this role, I also gained extensive exposure to tools such as Confluence, Microsoft VSTS and HP Quality Centre.

Senior Test Analyst

As a Data Analyst, i worked within the Data Governance team and have gained vast experience with Data Assurance and Process Completeness.

Within this role, my key tasks were to maintain the integrity of policyholder data on the system, produce and present regular reports for executive's and senior management which ensured that the company had an adequate level of solvency, produce extracts for mailings to customers, respond to queries from the business regarding policyholder data etc.

Notable projects i worked on over the years included:

 - Analysis of bonuses applied to several thousand policies with a total monetary adjustment of c.£1.2m

 - Analysis of policyholder addresses for every record on the system to ensure the correct country code is used, and correct where necessary

 - Trend analysis and reporting on data issues which could have an impact on reserving and the ability of the company to meet it's expenses. I have lead the presentation of this data to executives on a quarterly basis

 - Overseeing the automation of business critical tools
