- Started up team of 6, doing full-stack strategy - develop, align, execute and iterate, in Greater Southeast Asia's #1 classifieds start-up. Seconded from Government of Singapore

- Refreshed the 5-year corporate strategy and Annual Planning, across 8 markets in Carousell Group following its M&As. Presented to Board

- Key in executing most recent investment by Korean private equity STIC, valuing Carousell Group at US$1.1b. Developed strategic positioning, interfaced with investors and advisors, and led the corporate due diligence process

- Led a cross-functional (strategy, marketing, business, product) team in developing a new business vertical from user understanding to value proposition and marketing message development, to pricing optimisation. User metrics grew 40% and revenues doubled YoY as an outcome

- Led team of 9 to drive policy development. Ensure quality of the foreign workforce, and that businesses continue to have access to skilled manpower in growth areas such as tech, manufacturing 4.0 and professional services.

- Created new offensives of active engagement with business chambers and third-party advocates, to better co-create and land policies with user feedback and reservoir of goodwill and understanding

- Pioneered new tender framework for a new metro line. Strategised management-level negotiations with bidders

- Evolved regulation framework to regulate upstream processes and improve service standards, as industry transits to a new asset-light industry model and network assets double 

- Conceptualised rail sector manpower roadmap (training framework, programmes, Singapore Rail Academy model and engineering platforms) to develop indigenous engineering expertise

- Scaled Singapore Institute of Technology as Singapore's key applied learning university, enrolling over 12,000 students by 2020. Developed the university's strategic positioning, programmes and pedagogy. Strategised and planned its University Town concept as the centrepiece of the Digital Industrial Park 4.0

- Drove a national-level education and training policy review for the polytechnic and ITE sectors, to future-proof Singapore’s education and training for the new economy

- Started the conceptualisation of a new Science Centre. Collaborated with agencies on place-making, programming and community engagement

I'm Kaijie, and I better by example 🔥. 

Heading up special projects with a focus on the AI Verify Foundation, the government's first open-source endeavour aimed at helping organisations develop trusted AI systems. Was convinced of the exponential power of AI, and thus the need to harness it in a responsible way after leading the IMDA Innovation Team.

My experience crosses 2B and 2C. Before this, I got myself seconded to Carousell Group as its first Corporate Strategy Director. I drove its US$1.1B funding round, making it 🇸🇬's unicorn. Also refreshed its corporate strategy, working across 6 entities, 8 markets and 700+ employees. Grew team value so much we 6x'ed its size. Prior to that, had 7 years of experience as a ministry policy wonk, across higher education, transport and manpower. Building up an open-source business and community for the public good, is a natural evolution of this journey.

Reimagining a 1st-class public service | Public x Private x Product | Ex-Carousell Corp Strat Director, GovTech Prod Strat Director | ASEAN Youth Fellow

🧑‍💻“Inclusivity is not just across age and cultures, but tech too.”

Moderated a fireside with JTC Corporation and GovTech Singapore’s Hua Peng Liew for the ASEAN Youth Fellowship visit to Punggol Digital District.

We spoke about how inclusivity was baked in from the get-go:

👴👵👶 Amenities are planned for residents, students, businesses and workers to interact with each other, truly making a place to live, work and play. It’s a literal expansion of the serendipitous water cooler moments, to bring greater value to the community at large.

🚉 The underlying middleware layer of Open Digital Platform acts as a translator of proprietary protocols, much like custom languages. This allows even the smallest businesses to plug in to test their products, thereby lowering the barriers to entry.

🤖 One point resonated - the act of inclusion is one thing, but how do we ensure the gains from AI accrue equitably across the full citizen spectrum? Technology used to threaten menial, manual labour, yet AI’s nature is such that white-collar work is now most at risk. A reimagining of the workforce would require an equally bold movement to help democratise tools and mindsets, collectively.
