Jumpleads NFP is a social enterprise with a focus on changing cultures and invigorating communities to enable a better future

We do this by “jump-starting” arts and community initiatives Australia wide, delivering:

- Education and training
- Strategic communications and engagement
- Tailored community development programs
- And Pop Up Art and Make a Change programs

We facilitate processes that enables creativity, collaboration, participation and generates action – the fundamental ingredients required to mobilise the community resources required to adequately address the current and future challenges we face.

Our partners include government agencies, visionary organisations and committed individuals who want to achieve relevant and practical responses to community challenges.

We have three divisions:

At Make a Change we understand the value of bringing people together to address issues and develop new approaches. We also understand the challenges of doing this in a way that is engaging, reaches out to diverse groups of people and creates pathways for real and lasting change.

For this, we have developed innovative processes to assist organisations, communities and townships create the changes they want. Bringing extensive experience, we are here to help.

Make a Change Australia is a division of Jumpleads NFP.

The Make a Change programs provide the inspiration, skills and support to create sustained positive impact for individuals and entire communities.

Our extensive, innovative engagement and communications initiatives connect people to our programs in meaningful ways. Utilising diverse communication platforms online, e-mail, social media, direct and in the media.

Recent projects include:

•	DELWP Lancefield Post Fire Recovery Community Engagement Program – delivery of a program to engage and assist Lancefield community in recovery following the Lancefield fires.

•	EMV Community Based Emergency Management Review – review of EMV’s approach and development of ideas for Victoria wide strategy.

•	Communications and engagement strategy and delivery for the Community Foundation for Central Victoria’s Big Give initiative.

•	Expand Your Impact Workshop Series - skills workshops covering topics such as developing and implementing a community project, building and working in teams, community engagement and money matters. 

•	Outside the Square – development and delivery of an interactive public engagement program to encourage creative thinking, conversation, civic participation and action around particular themes. Delivered 10+ events in Bendigo on various topics including  Bendigo a Cycling City, Healthy Communities, Activating Spaces and Social Enterprise (from 2013 to present).

Stay Social is unique accommodation in central Bendigo. Providing short and long term home-style accommodation for travelers and business people alike.

Our accommodation is  warm and welcoming, easily accessible, great value, fun and highly environmentally and socially responsible. Stay Social creates the space for ideas and connections to be created.

Guests have exclusive use of their living spaces and share other facilities with new friends, future business partners, great contacts, and maybe even soul mates that they are about to meet!

Stay Social was brought into being by key players of Bendigo’s remarkable social entrepreneurial scene, Chris and Karen Corr.

Sustainability and project management consulting services for businesses and community groups.
		
Achievements include:
•	Set up and Stage 1 implementation of the $1.2M Goldfields SolarHub project for the Bendigo Sustainability Group - a project that initiated 1.84MW of installed solar (636 systems) across the City of Greater Bendigo and Mount Alexander Shires.
•	Water audits of 40 sports facilities for the Loddon Shire.
•	Development of one module of an environmental training course for accountants.  The module is titled “Water Auditing – Cost Savings and Water Management “ for Greenstreets Environmental Resources, 2009.
•	Stakeholder mapping of sustainability and climate change adaptation activities in the Loddon Mallee Region for Department of Sustainability and Environment.
•	Prince of Wales Sports Complex Masterplan, 2009 – EcoSuccess was contracted by Community Vibe to provide water management advice for the development of the Masterplan.  Tasks involved a site visit, liaison with stakeholders and assessment of water related issues to be considered in the design of the Masterplan. 
•	Development of a research paper on Examples of Sustainability Innovation and Leadership Projects in Central Victoria.  Projects examined in the paper include the trials and production of biodiesel fuel in Elmore, the Castlemaine Maine’s Power Project, the development of environmentally sustainable portable offices and housing (“Enviropods”) and the design and development of an urban scale wind generator.

Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance

The Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance (CVGA) is a not-for-profit organisation with members comprising 14 local governments, businesses and community groups. The CVGA plays a key role in creating sustainable, climate-aware communities and profitable, climate-friendly economies in our region.

The CVGA has been a fantastically successful initiative since it was set up in 2006 to address climate change: catalysing the development of 11 Greenhouse Alliances across Victoria, as well as creating and managing Sustainable Regional Australia to deliver region–wide energy projects and research including the $41 million Central Victoria Solar City project and the $700,000 Your Business Your Future Program.

Bendigo Sustainability Group

The Bendigo Sustainability Group (BSG) is a not for profit member association with over 500 members in the Bendigo region. The BSG is for local people interested in sustainable living, be it bulk buying solar power, sustainable gardening, using less energy/water around the home or office, sustainable transport, community education or even policy development. The goal is to create a supportive culture for understanding, inspiration, action and hope from which the wider Bendigo community can grow a sustainable future together. 

As co-founder and inaugural President of the BSG, Karen was a key driver in the startup and growth of the organisation. This included overseeing the creation and operations of 12 voluntary Action Groups working on different aspects of community sustainability, over $600,000 worth of grants and partnerships for projects such as the Goldfields SolarHub, the Women in Sustainability Leadership Program, Refit n Save, Bendigo Celebrates Sustainable Living initiative and the Repower Bendigo initiative. Other activities overseen included the set up of a Bulk Buy Solar Panels Program for household electricity generation; the set up of a Bulk Buy Solar Hot Water Program; development of a Sustainable Living Calender for Bendigo and numerous policy submissions.

The role has included facilitation, community engagement, governance and media exposure. In February 2009 Karen attended the National Climate Action Summit in Canberra. She has presented at many events including the 2009 Victorian Regional Climate Action Summit in Daylesford, the 2009 Victorian Rural Women in a Changing Climate Conference and the launch of the Sustainable Living in  Bendigo Calendar.

President

Responsibilities:
•	Project management including budgeting, forecasting, client communications, project delivery, team management, coaching and training.
•	Provision of technical services including water auditing, water management plans, sustainability consulting.
•	Business development, marketing and proposal writing.
•	Assistance with the roll out of GHD’s sustainability strategy in regional offices.

Achievements:
•	Expanded GHD’s project experience / capability in water management for businesses and organisations.  The types of projects included benchmarking, water auditing, feasibility assessments of water savings initiatives and strategic water management plans.
•	Developed a standard procedure to undertake water audits of 50 Shepparton Council sites and trained GHD staff to undertake the audits.  Using the outcomes of the audits, a water savings implementation action plan was developed that would save Council 80 ML/yr. This equates to a cost savings of $50,000 per year.
•	Developed the methodology and process to undertake a regional sustainability project for the Australian Industry Group which involved bringing together five industries in Tongala.  Through site visits and workshops the aim was to identify opportunities to increase sustainability through collaboration, sharing and joint learning with an emphasis on resource efficiency and waste reduction. 
•	Conducted GHD’s Sustainability Awareness Training sessions for the Mildura, Shepparton and Bendigo regional offices and assisted in the roll out of GHD’s Project Impact Assessment process as part of GHD’s Sustainability Strategy.
•	Development of Sustainable Water Management Strategies for numerous Councils including City of Greater Geelong, Mildura Rural City Council, Manningham City Council and Hume City Council.

Water Strategy / Sustainability Consultant

Responsibilities:
•	Project management including budgeting, forecasting, client communications, project delivery, team management.
•	Provision of technical services including hydrology, hydraulics, water resource modelling, functional and detail design of waterway rehabilitation measures, water balance analyses, water quality assessments, inspections and risk assessments of dams.
•	Assistance with business development, marketing and proposal writing.

Achievements:
•	Undertook complex water system modeling (using REALM hydrologic program) of the Wimmera-Mallee Water Supply System, for the Wimmera Catchment Management Authority, to assess options of flooding and environmental flow regimes for the terminal lakes as part of a secondment with the Department of Sustainability and Environment.  
•	Analysed the water supply and demand for 49 towns in the Coliban, Goulburn, Campaspe, Loddon, Murray and Wimmera systems in Central Victoria up to the year 2035 and assessed the future impacts of climate change on the Coliban Water supply system using a method developed by the CSIRO as input into Coliban Water’s Water Resources Strategy.  
•	Developed and oversaw the completion of a water supply augmentation investigation for Barwon Region Water Authority’s Water Resources Development Plan using REALM supply and demand model.  As the Water Resources Modeller and Team Leader for the project, developed and verified the water supply model and developed complex restriction rule curves for the model. Utilised Visual Basic programming to improve the efficiency of the modeling and supervised and trained staff to investigate 30 options (groundwater, surface water, re-use, inter-connection, demand reduction).
•	Supervised the construction works and undertook the contract administration of the Bunyip Main Drain Yallock Outfall to 11 Mile Road, for Melbourne Water.   The project included levee raising, channel enlargement, channel stabilisation, road re-alignment and new catch drains.

Environmental Engineer

For the last decade my highest priority has been advocating for positive change. Grounded in an optimism about what people offer, I've worked extensively in the development and strengthening of community, as a foundation to a world that works.
 
Utilising skills in project implementation, communications, engagement, strategy development and facilitation, I've shaped and led social enterprise Jumpleads NFP / Make a Change Australia / Pop Up Art, fostering many community initiatives and innovative organisations across health and well-being, environment, social disadvantage, inclusion and creative sectors. 

My driver is to activate and invigorate community led solutions, for which partnership with government agencies, visionary organisations and committed individuals is critical.
 
Starting a career as an environmental engineer, working in water and environment sectors for government agencies and businesses, I'm also committed to environmental protection, restoration and related matters.
