Elsevier is an information analytics company with expertise in improving clinical workflows and reducing unwarranted variability in care through our oncology clinical decision support software, ClinicalPath. As a Product Manager I engage in new product development and lead strategic initiatives to expand our product offerings across the US and internationally.  I also lead a Scrum team to develop and deploy enhancements to our pathway algorithm authoring platform. I am currently focusing on new features to reduce the maintenance burden for our content authors and hospital system customers to manage their clinical trial libraries and increase trial screenings/accruals.

As a Content Principal I work in cross functional teams to develop new commercializable software features and drive the expansion of ClinicalPath into international markets. I lead market and customer discovery research to deliver strategic product recommendations to senior leadership and act as an internal consultant for international teams to provide guidance on content development, authoring workflows, and feature requirements.

As a senior clinical content analyst, I provided content support of new commercial initiatives, developed and managed relationships with external partners, led internal process improvement initiatives, and served as a cultural role model. I worked closely with customers, key opinion leaders, and our internal teams to define and deliver new product offerings that support the workflow and decision making of oncology health professionals. I led the development of clinical content in our product that will simplify the prior authorization burden and embedded national oncology guidelines within our proprietary decision support algorithms.

Senior Clinical Content Analyst

As an intermediate clinical content analyst, I developed and built new clinical decision support pathways to expand the ClinicalPath product into new markets. I worked in a matrix with physicians, pharmacists, product managers, information technologists, and UX designers to perform customer discovery, build and develop new decision support software tools, and test prototypes with end users.

The ClinicalPath evidence-based algorithms are collaboratively developed by disease committees of physicians from within the ClinicalPath Network to help oncologists deliver standardized care while controlling costs. As an associate clinical content analyst, I planned and executed regular disease committee meetings for medical and radiation oncology modalities. By managing the disease committees, I built relationships with key opinion leaders in academic and community medical centers to drove to evidence-based consensus on optimal standards of care for distinct patient populations. I reviewed recent clinical trial data to evaluate potential impacts to the current standard of care and authored software updates to incorporate changes to treatment recommendations. I managed asynchronous timelines for numerous disease pathways while adhering to strict documentation and quality assurance protocols.

Associate Clinical Content Analyst

The Pittsburgh Health Data Alliance’s Center for Commercial Applications of Healthcare Data guides early stage research toward clinical and commercial translation through technology licensing and new company formation. As a Senior Commercial Translation Associate I provided commercial project management to early stage AI/ML digital health technologies and served as the communications focal point between the project team, university administrators, the project sponsor, and potential technology licensees. This included moderating regular check-in meetings, tracking progress against deliverable milestones, monitoring for public disclosures that may jeopardize intellectual property, proactively identifying and removing roadblocks, and facilitating contract amendments as needed. I also worked closely with the inventors and sponsors to determine the best approach for a smooth transition into a commercial translation receptor (licensing, new company formation) or to prepare the team to pursue additional funding for continued product and business plan development. 

I’ve advised dozens of investigators on their commercial translation options and early IP protection steps, coached 5 teams to develop and deliver funding pitches to potential industry sponsors, and oversaw the due diligence, contracting, and on-going project management of 3 technologies that are actively developing new digital health solutions with industry funding. With my leadership the university has secured nearly $1.5 M in commercial translation funding resulting in 5 new licensable invention disclosures. 

I additionally supported sciVelo strategic initiatives, including developing invention disclosures for early stage research, mentoring junior associates to gain differentiated business and leadership skills, and leading the collaborative development our our guiding purpose statement and core values.

Senior Commercial Translation Associate

As a commercial translation associate, I lead teams of researchers with prospective digital health technologies through the commercialization process to secure intellectual property, assess the market space and regulatory hurdles, raise funding, and construct their commercialization strategy. My projects focus on the development of clinical decision support tools and predictive analytics in healthcare using machine learning and natural language processing to provide actionable recommendations based on PROs, EHR records, biological data, publicly available data repositories, voice recordings, and other data sources.

Project established baselines to examine microglia mediated changes in neurogenesis associated gene expression in the mouse hippocampus under environmental enrichment. Gene expression, cell survival, cell proliferation, and microglia coverage were analyzed in WT mice housed in standard and enriched cages. These were compared with transgenic mice in normal and enriched environments after conditional ablation of microglia to evaluate the role of microglia in neurogenesis.

I’m passionate about applying data and technology to solve our most pressing healthcare problems. I leverage my academic and industry experiences to bridge the gaps between clinicians, data scientists, and business development partners to bring new digital health technologies to market. I love working at the intersection of science and business to ensure we are asking the right questions and developing implementable healthcare solutions for the patients who need them most.

As a Product Manager at Elsevier, I work collaboratively with an international, cross-functional team of UX, Software Engineering, Digital Content, and Commercial stakeholders to improve and expand our oncology-focused clinical decision support tool, ClinicalPath. I lead a Scrum team focused on our proprietary clinical algorithm authoring platform, called PathBuildR, which allows us to construct computer interpretatable pathways. In this role I balance on-time delivery of new revenue driving functionality with usability improvements to enhance the day-to-day experience of internal users.
