We are all born with a constellation of gifts – that unique combination of talents and interests that make us each who we are. Why am I passionate about sharing it with parents? As a career counselor for twenty – five years, I helped over 1500 professionals find success and satisfaction. Behind closed doors, I learned that these seemingly accomplished lawyers were deeply unhappy. When asked why they had studied law, many shared that their parents had actually chosen this path for them. Others ended up in law school because they couldn’t think of another option. At the end of the day, after spending hours behind closed doors with unhappy lawyers, I was determined to help my two young boys discover their talents and interests. To my surprise both boys discovered their passion for baseball. If it hadn’t been for my unhappy clients, I would have been tempted to encourage a more traditional path. Thankfully, I didn’t because my oldest son is now a Major League Advanced Coordinator with the San Diego Padres. Now that my boys are both young adults, I am pursuing my legacy passion project. I am not a parent coach in the traditional sense.
