The 4th of July is a big deal in the Kaufmann house.

Our neighborhood closes down streets, wears matching shirts, and has a parade - the kind where everyone is in it, and almost no one is left to watch it. 

As I was getting things ready last night, I thought of something one of my daughter’s friends said to me a couple weeks ago as the kids were heading off to camp. 

She said, “There are 2 types of campers. There’s the kind that doesn’t really want to do anything or get involved… and then there’s the kind that are ALL IN.” 

Not gonna lie - I already knew this girl was the “all in” type, but I was inspired to see her planning for it. 

She decided what kind of experience she was going to have before she even got to camp, and I know she gave other middle schoolers the courage to do the same.

Here’s why I’m telling you these random, seemingly unrelated stories:

Be an ALL IN camper. 
Be a leader that inspires others to engage.
Be in your own proverbial parade. 
Don’t be a spectator. 

Independence deserves to be celebrated in a big way, as do a million other gifts and opportunities that you experience in your everyday life and business.

So, for the Kaufmanns, the party starts tonight with food trucks and a movie in the street with a couple hundred neighbors, and it won’t stop until the fireworks are over tomorrow night. 

You’ll find us right in the middle of it all, wearing our newest ridiculous outfits.

To my friends from around the world, it’s ok to roll your eyes. We already know. :)
