The biggest journey of my (relatively short) lifetime is unfolding.
Morningscore is an online tool that helps you grow your website's SEO. Like a computer game you are given "missions" to complete. And you get rewards for growing your website traffic. SEO is now fun.

Today I am partner at Morningtrain. I try to help out with visionary ideas. I have to admit this fast morning train is running just fine (if not perfect) without it's old loco pilot ;)

I was responsible for the operations in the early days of Morningtrain.

Toender IT

The first company i co-founded out of high school. Small IT solutions for local businesses.

Some of the brightest people I know started in that company, and are now working in what became the successor, Morningtrain.

Cofounder

My startup journey started with the Agency Morningtrain in 2010. A great company and work place that stands strong today. Things took a bad turn in 2014 when a bitcoin mining operation literally blew up in a  priest house basement. But damn it was fun. Now since 2018 I am part of Morningscore, the easiest all-in-one SEO tool. We have big dreams. And our many happy customers makes us believe they are achievable.

I love to create things and help them grow. Interaction with (all sorts of) people gives me energy and feeds my curiosity greatly.

Steady wins the race.

Just handed in Morningscores Q1 metrics to our shareholders and board this morning.

So happy and grateful that I could present such growth numbers!

Especially a growth of 64% in new customers vs last quarter is a number that makes me jump of joy!!! 🥳 (I have a thing for jumping).

It might seem like a silly problem, but the problem is real

People say, when being honest, they don't get SEO done, because it's boring.

I can also testify to that problem.

But then as I log into Morningscore (our SEO tool) and see we leveled up, my whole mood changes and I want to achieve more!! 🧑‍🚀✅

PS.
Right after I laugh at the fact I got hooked on my own supply 😁 but if it works, it works.

SEO is pure love for me.

But the SEO industry itself is definitely more love/hate.

For once let's talk about the hate part

There is a certain type of SEO guru out there I hate. Not personally in any way of course. But how they make beginners feel.

They are all highly intelligent. No denying their brilliance. And there is a lot of them!

But!

All the buzz words... and the constant preaching that SEO is a very very complex sport, and no one who is not a black belt SEO tech nerd, should ever touch it...

Just try to go on any SEO Facebook group or Reddit sub and you will see what I talk about. That environment is toxic!!!

My problem is they intimidate you to think SEO is only about technical knowledge and deep analytics. 

Spoiler alert: It's not.

At the end of the day SEO battles are won by creativity and great communication. And actually doing SEO! (some gurus seem to think analyzing does the job).

They spend most of their energy on measuring and optimizing and telling the rest of us we are stupid. 

But maybe sometimes they are missing the ball completely, and forgetting that creativity and actually doing the work is the core of SEO.

"Don't compare yourself with others"

Great advice that is impossible to follow 😃 At least for me!

It's like going against my programming.

I have a fire inside me to grow. It's hard to not look over the shoulder to put that growth in perspective.

Comparison doesn't consume me, it happens maybe 5 minutes 1-2 times per week. But it's still something that feels like a bad habit.

Anyone feels the same way?

I went to a meeting with Dutch software founders.

The day after my inbox exploded with Dutch conversations 

THEY WERE NOT RELATED to the people at the event.

This happens all the time to me. It's so weird. It feels supernatural 😯

You go in one direction and somehow it attracts more of the same.
