Backed by provincial government funding, we're poised to subsidize training expenses, rendering it accessible to small and medium-sized enterprises.

Effective academic advising encompasses career development. I led a dynamic team of dedicated academic advisors who supported and motivated students registered in science programs. The complexity of support changes with current social and economic situations. 

Supporting those who provide this work is constantly evolving as the student population is just as dynamic and crosses numerous generations. The population in post-secondary is diverse, creating challenges the current education system has not seen before leading to an adaptive work environment.

I met each student where they are at in their own career development.  With a toolbox of options available, I always feel like I am along for the ride.  Together, we discover new ideas and possible careers.  Each student is empowered to continue the process and I am always on the sidelines available for consultation as needed.  The greatest satisfaction is when a student has a look of confidence in themselves.  Ultimately, I need to do myself out of a job - however, thankfully, there are always new students entering the post-secondary educational environment so I never have to say good-bye - just "au revoir" and "stay in touch" as the students graduate.

Substitute Teacher

University of Manitoba - Faculty of Kinesiology & Recreation Management

Performed academic and career advising function for undergraduate students in the faculty; included assisting students in realizing goals, identifying alternatives to barriers and consequences of option(s). Promoted degree programs to prospective students; educated students on academic content & possible career paths of programs offered.

Worked closely with the Associate Dean of Academics on policies, procedures, and "other duties as assigned", including a massive curriculum review and renaming of the faculty. Liaised with non-academic component of faculty in order to increase academic success of students and student athletes.

Undergraduate Program Administrator

Campus Manitoba

Campus Manitoba (CMB) is a program designed to facilitate access to post-secondary education within the province of Manitoba.  As a Centre Coordinator I recruited students, assisted them in all aspects associated with admissions, determining a course of study, registration logistics, personal issues, career advising, etc.  As the main contact for rural students, I became a support as well as a source of information which allowed them to become confident and able to move into the city in order to complete their studies.

I supervised part-time staff and facilitated the operation of a virtual classroom, assisted professors and students alike in regards to course delivery methods, and ensured smooth operation of the centre and programs associated with Campus Manitoba. I was also tasked with supervising locations in 3 areas of southern Manitoba beyond Southport. This included supervising part-time staff and advising students from a distance; making weekly trips to meet with both staff and students in person.

Centre Coordinator

Each of us define success differently, personally and professionally. Some know where they want to get to but aren’t sure how to get there. Others really don’t know. The conscious, subconscious and unconscious are involved, and the journey is always so individual. Yet we live and work in a community. I work with people in many different settings to help them define their needs and goals to find options and solutions.

I am a restless soul. Always looking for new ideas and activities. In this way, I am constantly developing my own career both professionally and personally.
