The story is everything I had to overcome to get here. 

I overcame:

“You’re going to destroy your career!”
 → The 10+ text threads telling me I was insane for posting every day.
 Three years later, those same people got laid off… and came back asking how to grow their LinkedIn and launch their consulting business... 🫠 

“Who does she think she is, posting like that?”
→ Yes, that one came from former coworkers. 
They wanted me to stay silent. 
They wanted me to stay stunted. 
But I’ve learned: envy is just praise in disguise. 
So I exited the room to be able to shout and shine louder.

“Your sister isn’t scared of losing her job? She posts so much.”
 → Those same voices who reached out to my sister to complain, later asked me for advice...

And then there were the mornings when my posts went live while I was still asleep…. and I’d wake up to Andrea Henderson, SPHR, CIR, RACR in my inbox saying:
 “It’s 5am in LA, you’re probably sleeping...  I handled comments from your trolls.”

Wow. Thank you girl. 

That’s understanding.
That’s community.
That’s support.

She knows I’m a single mom of a toddler 
running a business the best way I can.

Some days I need to sleep.
Some days there are typos.
Some days two posts go out at once.

When I spoke to 200 business consultants in Montreal about how to promote their company and services, the conversation went like this:

- Me: “Don’t forget to comment. Every day. 20 comments a day.”
- Them: [surprised looks] “Why comment?”
- Me: “Because it’s a social network. You can’t build community if you never engage.” You can’t be anti-social.

I call it the "LinkedIn Generosity Flywheel"
 It's the art of showing up with curiosity, giving value freely, and building community with other humans online.

But here’s the deeper intel:  comments don’t just help you connect, they help you get seen when within your niche.

There are 3 types of career pivots. 
Most people only know about one.
Here's why it matters. 👇🏾

In my career, I've made many career moves from:
- Editorial to product
- Product to marketing
- Marketing to sales
- Corporate to entrepreneurship 
- Entrepreneurship to corporate,
and I changed geographies twice.

Career design isn't just about "follow your passion" or "climb the ladder."

There are three distinct ways to redesign your career,
and each one requires a totally different strategy. 

Hear me out, here are the 3 types:

1) The Lateral Shift 
(same level, different function)
- For: People with credibility who need a new challenge
- Advantage: You keep your network, your title relevance 
- Risk: You're not seen as an "expert" in the new space

2) The Climb & Pivot 
(move up while moving sideways)
- For: People building multiple competencies before a bigger move
- Advantage: You gain seniority + proof you can cross domains
- Risk: Takes longer. Requires patience.

3) The Leap 
(leave entirely, rebuild from scratch)
- For: People willing to take a risk for alignment 
- Advantage: Full reinvention. Permission to be new.
- Risk: You lose institutional credibility. You start over.

I've done all three. 

And each one of these requires a whole different operating system!

Most people try strategy #3, when they actually need strategy #1.  
Get this straight. 

Then they burn out, 
start feeling like failures, 
and blame themselves unnecessarily.

The problem isn't them. 
The problem is:
they didn't match the strategy to their actual situation,
instead of matching it to their core aspiration.

Career ladders are becoming obsolete.

I had a blast speaking at Wonder Women Tech last week in Long Beach
on 'How to future-proof your career in the age of AI'. 

Because the old career maps are no longer going to work.

The most future-ready professionals I have seen aren’t choosing between corporate and entrepreneurial paths anymore.

They’re building portfolio careers that allow them to grow, adapt and evolve.

This way, they can try new things, and thrive without giving up what matters most to them.

History has shown that companies able to endure big historical "shifts" do 3 things very well.

1️⃣ They relentlessly focus on the customer. They build products that offer genuine value and transform behavior for the better.

2️⃣ They develop viable business models.  They go beyond easy "band-aid" solutions.

3️⃣ They're frugal and persist over time. They discipline themselves to navigate uncertainty and limited access to capital.

That's how they face Big Shifts.

But what about us professionals? 
What should we do?

We can do the same. 
We can choose to be more open-minded, more nimble, 
and more flexible.

We can explore what a portfolio career might look like in reality.
Because traditional career ladders often become power games,
with zero-sum pursuits,
and fiefdoms... (Yes, fiefdoms!)

This Big Shift is an opportunity to treat your career like an investment portfolio:

→ Some assets for stability
→ Some for growth
→ Some for passion

And while you're at it, you can leverage AI to build your OWN one-person company. (Just like Sam Altman suggested a few months ago!)

Your next edge won’t come from climbing the ladder alone.

It might come from finding big, deep, unsolved problems that YOU will build for.

Most people approach year-end reflection the same way they approach their career: vaguely. Here is what I use every year to redesign my career.
Beyond just setting "new goals".

They do a soft year in review, write down a few highlights, skim a couple of frustrations, and then, without realizing it, set the same goals for 2026 that didn’t work in 2025. 

New year.
Same inputs.
Same patterns.
Same outcomes.

That’s not planning.
That’s hope.
And hope... unfortunately is a sure strategy for failure. Guaranteed failure.

For the last 10 years, as a Fortune 500 growth executive, coach, and someone who’s reinvented their own career more than once, I’ve used a different framework. A framework rooted in data, patterns, energy, alignment, and strategic redesign. 

It’s the same method I teach inside the Career Accelerator.
It’s the same method that helped me go from “successful but drained” to building a career, and company, that actually reflect my values.

If you want 2026 to feel meaningfully different, not just optimistically different, start with this.

PART 1: THE CALENDAR AUDIT
(Because your calendar tells the truth. Your memory doesn’t.)
Most people ask, “What went well?” and “What didn’t?”
I don’t.

I ask:
Where did I actually spend my time in 2025?
Most people are shocked by the gap.

PART 2: THE OUTCOME ANALYSIS
(Because “I worked hard” is not a driver. It’s a default.)
For every major win in 2025, ask:
What was the real driver?

Not the story.
Not the assumption.
The actual mechanism.

PART 3: THE ALIGNMENT AUDIT
(Because you can be productive and still go in the wrong direction.)
The next question I ask: Did 2025 move me toward what I want or toward what I’m good at? These are not the same.

Now, time to unpack:
What % of your  time went to things you're good at, but don't care about.
What % of your  time went to things aligned with your values.
What % of your  time went to obligations and other people’s priorities.
Rate each one.

PART 4: PATTERN RECOGNITION
(Because isolated insights don’t change your life. Patterns do.)
Zoom out, look for patterns, not isolated data points.
Those insights became the foundation of my 2026 design.
Not goals. Not resolutions. Design decisions.

PART 5: THE 2026 DESIGN
(Where the redesign actually happens.)

Trends Reshaping Advertising in the Age of AI

(Why You're Probably Optimizing the Wrong Thing in your marketing)

Hint: Most growth strategy assumes balanced diversification: 5 different growth levers, 20% effort on each.

But in reality,  growth tends to follow power laws. 
ONE single lever usually generates 60-80% of growth. The other four generate 20-40% combined.

But here's what actually happens: You spend 20% of your time on the lever that matters and 80% on the ones that don't. (Yes, Pareto's Law in effect again. But in reverse…).

The Deeper Problem:
Companies create "balanced" growth portfolios because it feels safer.

"We're doing paid ads, organic SEO, partnerships, content, and referrals."

Sounds smart. Looks diversified. Reduces risk.

But the math of power laws means that probably:
•⁠ Paid ads generates 65% of growth
•⁠ The other four generate 35% combined
•⁠  But you're spending equal resources on all five

So you're massively under-investing in the thing that actually works.

The brutal reality that will feel Counter-Intuitive (and that might sting...):
•⁠  The best growth comes from focus, not balance.

You need to:
•⁠  Identify which lever generates the most growth 
(not which you think should, which actually does)
•⁠  Shift 60-70% of resources to that one
•⁠  Maintain the others at minimum (so they don't die)
•⁠  And accept the risk concentration
This feels wrong. It IS imbalanced. And it's why the top 1% grow faster than everyone else. 

"But I don't want to put all my eggs in the basket!!!"

I hear you, who wants to lack diversification?

One channel stops working, and you're OUT! 🫥 

In any case, this matters because...:
•⁠ The power law changes every quarter.
•⁠ What drove growth in Q1 (let's say: partnerships with large accounts) might be completely different in Q3 (let's say: bottom-up motion from SMBs).

But most companies don't re-evaluate their growth lever allocation quarterly.
They built a strategy in Year 1 and execute it for Years 2-3.

By then, they've missed the shift. Too slow, too big, the elephant in the room..

What's hidden behind in all?
The companies that dominate are the ones that:
•⁠ Have data about which lever actually drives growth (not assumptions)
•⁠ Re-evaluate monthly/quarterly as the power law shifts
•⁠ Ruthlessly shift resources toward the thing that works
•⁠ Accept that this looks imbalanced and feels risky
•⁠ And they outrun the balanced, diversified approaches.

Now, off to you...
