Communications and Corporate Affairs Manager

West of England Combined Authority

Responsible for engagement and communications for capital delivery and planning projects within the
infrastructure directorate. Projects included the development strategy for the region, mass transit, bus
improvements and the rail programme.
Planned and delivered the overall communications and engagement strategy for the infrastructure directorate.
Co-ordinated the communication and engagement plans for approximately 15 projects to ensure clear
engagement with stakeholders and alignment with the corporate communications plan.
Led on public engagement to ensure residents, including seldom heard from groups, were aware of
and able to feedback on plans and projects.
Worked with external consultants and agencies to deliver engagement and consultation campaigns,
including design, promotion, project management and analysis.
Worked with councils, MPs, ward and parish councillors to ensure stakeholders were briefed in a
timely manner.
Developed appropriate messaging and collateral to use across a range of communications channels.
Put together briefs and presentation materials for senior leaders, including papers for the Metro Mayor.
Presented updates at internal and external meetings and represented the combined authority at stakeholder engagement events.
Built and maintained strong working relationships with communication counterparts in the councils.

Communications and Engagement Manager (Infrastructure)

Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Trust

Wrote, updated and implemented the MY CARE communications and engagement strategy.
Managed content across all channels including online, print and social media. 
Handled and respond to media interest for the programme.
Responsible for internal communications to engage with c. 8000 staff across 13 hospital sites and community settings.
Provided update reports for key stakeholders including the programme board, Trust operational leads, unions and our software suppliers (Epic) in the US.
Wrote and developed communication plans for projects within the programme, including the digital transformation and clinical work streams.
Developed the MY CARE brand and maintain the style guidelines across the programme to ensure all materials are easily identifiable to stakeholders and created a positive image for the Trust
Worked with external agencies on creative content such as animations and graphics - managing the brief, script writing, editing and sign off.
Managed the budget for all communication and engagement activities for the programme. 
Organised and ran events for the programme and prepared representatives and materials for external events. 
Provided programme content for the Trust board, for example, the CEO presentation at the Trust’s Annual Members Meeting.
Achievements:	
Reached 64,000 people and increased followers by 6% in the first month of launching MY CARE’s social media campaign.
Increased internal stakeholder (c.8,000 staff) awareness about the aims of MY CARE by 33 percentile points in 10 months.
Created the branding (Are You RDE?) for the programme.  
Wrote and implemented a communications campaign for staff Super User recruitment for MY CARE which resulted in an over-subscription of volunteers by 60% (2000 volunteers for 1200 positions).

Duties:	
Overall management of the Polzeath store including staff, buying, merchandising and cashing-up.
Reaching sales targets through window and shop floor merchandising, pricing and customer service.
Deal with any marketing or advertising activities required - including creating content for social media, local print advertising and events.
Achievements:	
Managed the re-design of the Ocean Blue website in 2016.
Entered the shop for the Drapers (retail trade magazine) Independent Awards 2016 and was successfully shortlisted in the Womenswear Independent of the Year category.

Managed the design of a new exhibition stand for trade shows.
Responsible for planning the marketing strategy and implementing the marketing activities for the company.
Wrote project case studies to support commercial activities and for use on our website, trade stands and at public consultation meetings.

Achievements: 
Produced new sales brochures.
Organised a drone to film the company's largest project to date, which was requested by a solar panel manufacturer for use on their social media.

Marketing Manager

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

In October 2014 I was promoted to the position of Senior Communications Manager.  In this new role I was responsible for developing the marketing function for the Trust and managed an Events Assistant who supported our team with the management of Trust visits and events. I continued to be responsible for the areas listed in my previous post except the daily trust-wide email.

Senior Communications Manager

Handled local, national and international media enquiries and filming requests for the Trust. Managed filming on site and oversaw pre-broadcast viewings for documentaries.
Managed internal communications and public engagement for strategic issues and projects, including the redevelopment of our A&E department and 'Shaping a healthier future' (NHS service reconfiguration in North West London). 
Wrote Board papers and reports for the Executive team including analysing data, collating press coverage and presenting performance statistics (website hits etc.) .
Organised the annual hospital open day and Christmas event, including planning, publicity, ordering branded materials and budget management.
Managed the communications and logistics for the annual staff awards at Chelsea Football Club - a black tie event for over 200 employees and including a V.I.P guest.
Editor of the Trust magazine, which was published six times a year (three issues a year were distributed to the Trust's 11,000 Foundation Trust members).  Responsible for creating content for the magazine, including interviewing staff, and sourcing news stories and hospital updates.
Wrote the monthly membership e-newsletter.
Organised the “Medicine for Members” seminars which took place six times a year.
Wrote and sent the daily, internal Trust-wide email.
Organised the monthly all-staff briefing with the Executive team.
Wrote and edited leaflet, website, blog and advertorial content.
Managed the Trust’s social media.
Achievements:
Managed the media for the Royal opening of Chelsea Children's Hospital by Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. Achieved national coverage including BBC London evening news, the Daily Mail and Hello magazine.
Organised the Trust's annual open day which included over 60 stands and tours and attracted more than 2000 visitors.
Led the communications for the staff flu vaccination campaign in 2013/14 which resulted in the highest vaccination rate to date.

Communications Manager

Responsible for writing press releases and statements. Liaise with media to promote the hospital or respond to stories in the press. Maximise marketing opportunities to promote the services that the hospital provides. Help with the organisation of hospital events and visits. Organise and oversee filming in the hospital for national news and external television programmes. Produce copy for newsletters and leaflets for different departments across the hospital. Write and edit website content. Manage the Trust’s new media accounts, such as Facebook and Twitter.

Responsible for writing and managing PR campaigns for new product launches, events and team rider news.  Created the copy for the websites, brochures and advertisements.  Worked alongside the graphic designers to produce artwork for store POS, advertisements and website content.  Liaised with the sponsored riders to order their kit and arranged promotional activities, such as photo shoots and media competitions.  Dealt with UK reps and International distributors to ensure they had all the relevant marketing information they required.  Represented the company at a variety of events to support show organisers and provide assistance on trade stands.
