The Austin Coding Academy and it's associated schools, which I have been managing since Jul 2021, was acquired by Ripple Learning, LLC in Feb 2023.  

I am engaged in leading a team of 40+ employees as we educate and support the next generation of professional developers.

The Director of Coding role consists of managing the Austin Coding Academy and its affiliated training programs.  

This innovative online/offline, full-time/part-time coding bootcamp is producing the next generation of professional developers.

I was asked to create and manage a paid internship program called theMVPshop.  Capable, but inexperienced grads from our coding programs were struggling to find work in the days of covid, and we came up with the idea of creating an in-house web dev shop and hire grads to work on professional projects.  

The grads get paid, get real world experience and get two nice pieces to add to their portfolio.  They work in teams of 4, splitting the front and back-end work.

I am hiring, project managing, contract drafting, client managing, doing whatever needs to be done.

At last count 72% of the grads got a full-time developer job within 6 months of entering the program.

I was asked to teach in a full-time coding program for subsidiary Austin Coding Academy (half day) and do front-end development for Zollege (half day)

In the teaching role, I taught HTML, CSS, Javascript, mySql, Node, React.  In the dev role, I worked with Ruby, Jekyll, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and hubspot.

Throughout my professional career, it has been important to me to teach the things I've learned and practice.  In the last few years, that has been teaching web production and graphics applications to a variety of adult learners.  Most of the time in boot camp style programs, which are very popular at the moment, but I have also taught a number of 2 to 4 hour one-day classes.  In the last 30 years, I have logged over 4800 hours of in classroom instruction and have cultivated the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people.

Worked with several attorneys and crime scene experts to deliver courtroom animation and illustrations. 
Worked with dozens of entrepreneurs and start up businesses to create media for marketing and investment presentations.
Helped local and statewide brands create an online presence in the early days of the internet.

Used Adobe Director, Adobe Flash, and 3D Modeling to create online training classes for the U.S. Marines. 
Developed detailed storyboards used in animation and interactive development.
Managed and directed up to 5 animators and programmers.
