Outsourced Data Protection Officer (DPO): As a DPO, I review DPIAs, provide training, conduct audits, collaborate with stakeholders, perform vendor due diligence, advise on SARs, assess data breaches, and promote data protection awareness for several clients.

Data Protection Trainer: I specialise in creating custom training courses for data protection, covering topics such as GDPR compliance, DSARs, and data breaches. 

Data Protection Consultancy: I've conducted GDPR audits for clients from many industries, drafted policies and privacy notices, helped with impact assessments, developed retention schedules, and supported Business Continuity Plans.

Data Management Consultant: I have performed evaluations of business processes to identify the reasons for change, analysed existing processes, pinpointed areas of concern, and developed a plan for future process flow. In addition, I conducted an analysis of stakeholders. The result is a system specification that can help market research for replacement systems or applications.

Databasix UK co-founder: I am engaged in all areas of the business. This includes attending networking events, raising business awareness through hosting webinars and talks, writing blogs, and hosting the Data Rockstar’s Coffee podcast. Public Health England

On 1st April 2013 transferred into Public Health England from Solutions for Public Health as part of the restructuring of the NHS.

•	Data Management – Introduced and maintained data quality assurance measures and routines to improve the value of the data held within the data systems.  Ensured that systems and processed aligned with the data governance requirements for holding patient-level identifiable data.  Improved analytical outputs by establishing data links with the National Cancer Registration system in order derive more intelligence from the data and influenced national decision making for the same.  

•	Stakeholder Engagement – Ensured clinical and pharmacy engagement through regular data interrogation sessions.  Set up the Strategic Programme Board ensuring representation from pharmaceutical industry, 3rd Sector, patient representation, NHS England and the research community.  Attended and presented at regular  national clinical meetings.

•	Programme Management – Successfully led the design, development, testing and roll out of England’s chemotherapy national patient-based database. Incorporating 148 NHS Trusts responsible for delivering chemotherapy treatment, and delivered to time and within budget, using PRINCE 2 and MSP methodology.

•	Service Delivery – Re-aligned two cancer registration offices, and provided coaching and leader ship to the future and single Head of Cancer Registration.  Responsible for recruitment, £1.5m budget and approximately 40 staff.  Ensured that annual operational performance management targets were achieved and planned for future sustainability.

Solutions for Public Health

•	Data Management – Introduced data management strategies within SPH, ensuring that all data focussed projects had clear lines of accountability, the correct level of information governance processes and regular data quality assurance routines undertaken ensuring the highest quality of data was collected, monitored and stored.

•	Performance Management - introduced internal and external performance management measures in line with national standards, including the overall improvement of cancer staging within the Thames Valley area.

•	Strategy – An executive member of the SPH strategic management board, horizon scanning for new opportunities to develop the business.  Lead the integration of disparate teams across SPH to form the Data Management team. Established the Chemotherapy Intelligence Unit in Oxford.

•	Commercial – responsible for generating new income worth £500k to the business. This including winning bids to undertake feasibility studies in Wales and England looking at the viability of implementing population based data systems for obesity, childhood weight management, substance misuse and cancer drugs fund.

Key Responsibilities & Achievements

•	Service Delivery – as part of the organisation’s restructuring, lead the I.T. group in creating a single Local Area Network (LAN) for the organisation.  Responsible for a £0.5m budget and ten staff.  Introduced an annual data quality programme to ensure adherence to Data Protection regulations.

•	Contract Management - Appointed as chair of the national drug treatment monitoring system management group, successfully negotiated the future funding from the Department of Health for the nine regional offices.

•	Stakeholder Engagement – Introduced regular meetings with stakeholders across the region and nationally in order to drive up the compliance of data reporting and compliance.  Routinely provided training session to large groups. 

•	Project Management – Responsible for planning, supporting and monitoring the substance misuse treatment work programmes for community and prison teams across the South East of England.  Introduced a project management tools and techniques across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities & Achievements

•	Information and communication - Ensured that information collection met the requirements of the County Council, National and Regional Government.  Raised the awareness of the team by improving website design and structure.

•	Resource Management – Managed the ICT team, responsible for the timely, accurate delivery of the County Councils substance misuse treatment activity to the regional office.

•	Full project lifecycle – responsible for assessing the effectiveness of existing systems and processes, production of project documentation, identifying and implementing change requests.  Ensured suppliers and customers were kept informed of developments.  Delivered training programmes to end-users.

Key Responsibilities & Achievements

•	LAN/WAN – handled multiple LAN/WAN corporate infrastructure projects across EMEA, Asia and US.  Gained recognition from VP of Irish Cargo Express for the management of the WAN installation in Shannon, Ireland.

•	Project Management – Successfully co-ordinated the decommissioning of WAN infrastructure in place at Clarify sites in France, Germany and UK and part of Nortel’s divestiture of Amdocs.

•	Network Support – provided support for Nortel’s internal EMEA WAN, monitoring issues affective local sites for both data and voice traffic.

•	Vendor Management – exercised confidence and authority with vendors and on-site technicians to ensure faults were corrected as efficiently as possible.

**Industrial Placement Year**

1. A key team player in the setup of the European Order Realisation  Centre at NCR's North Finchley Office.
2. Responsible for 1st and 2nd line support for NCRs Oracle (v7) Common Order System database.  Handling end-user problems and resolving day-to-day system problems.  Liaising with both the ender user community and the senior database administrators.
3. Supoprted the functional aspects of NCR's Oracle Common Order System for the UK, Germany, Switzerland and Spain.
4. Involved in the Oracle 10.7v upgrade of NCR's Oracle Financials system, which included participating in user acceptance testing for each of the countries I supported.
