	•We need to actively encourage women-led entrepreneurship, not as a talking point, but as a capital strategy

	•The womens health data gap is starting to close. Data now exists, and for founders, there’s a massive opportunity in collecting, structuring, and operationalizing more of it

	•The historical belief that women’s health underperforms financially wasn’t wrong because of outcomes, it was wrong because of misclassification. Diagnostics and therapeutics for women were often labeled as “other,” masking true ROI

You won’t believe where I spent my entire workday… 👇🏻

McDonald’s.

For 9 hours. 

My town lost power; no heat (it was 10°F), no running water, no food access from the fridge or freezer, no Wi-Fi, and no cell service

And of course… this is one of the busiest weeks for my business, with two holidays back-to-back

So what do you do when everything that normally supports your life and work disappears overnight?

👉🏻You get resourceful.

👉🏻You get uncomfortable.

👉🏻You choose mindset over circumstances.

I packed up the kids and drove to the nearest place that had heat, Wi-Fi, food, and somewhere they could play… McDonald’s.

Did I feel amazing after eating fast food all day? 

Absolutely not.

Did I feel grateful? 

Completely.

Because instead of losing a full day of work, we turned chaos into progress

Frustration turned into problem-solving

The phrase “this is impossible,” changed to “okay… what’s Plan B?”

This experience was a reminder of something big:

Where there is a will, there is a way.

Mindset really is everything.

You don’t always get to choose your circumstances,

However ! You do get to choose how you respond to them

Heading into the new year and potentially feeling behind or overwhelmed already… remember:

You’re far more adaptable, creative, and resilient than you think

Over the past year, we spoke with 100+ OB and MFM providers about where gestational diabetes (GDM) care feels hardest, even when everyone is following best practice/ standard of care. 

After much discussion we found the same 10 pain points arise.

This is the first post in a 10-part series sharing those pain points and how practices are working within real-world constraints to improve outcomes.

Gestational diabetes is typically screened around 28 weeks, which aligns with current standards of care.

The challenge many teams described isn’t when screening happens, it’s what happens after.

Once screening is complete, several time-dependent steps follow:

• Confirmatory testing (3 hour test) and scheduling referral appointment 
• Referral to education or support
• Initiation of lifestyle changes
• Escalation to medication if needed

When these steps take weeks, patients may be 30–33+ weeks before meaningful support begins.

At that point, care teams are doing the right things; just with less time to influence outcomes.

The real constraint

This isn’t a failure of clinicians or guidelines.

It’s a timing and infrastructure challenge in a system built for episodic care, not continuous metabolic support.

Gestational diabetes rates in the U.S. are up 36% over the past decade 👇 

I’m a mom and I’ve spent my career working at the intersection of nutrition, behavior change, and now healthcare systems

So this data point matters a lot

What stands out is what the trend exposes

Gestational diabetes is largely managed through daily decisions (food, movement, stress, sleep) yet the system addresses it through episodic visits, delayed referrals, and reactive escalation

At RenewRx, our beachhead has been supporting moms with diabetes in pregnancy by building infrastructure around those daily decisions, using real time data, coaching, and workflows that fit into real life and real clinical environments

What we’re seeing is clear:

 • Earlier engagement matters
 • Consistent support reduces escalation

Gestational Diabetes in US Surges by 36 Percent Over Last Decade

For decades, Americans were taught to eat a certain way👇🏻

Decades of habit formation 

I cant believe what I say this morning ! 

This week’s new U.S. dietary guidelines are a major shift

The “food pyramid” has essentially been turned upside down, now emphasizing protein, healthy fats, fruits, and vegetables as the foundation of the diet 

That’s such a bold and incredible announcement 

I’m still in shock

However it raises a much bigger question:

How do you move an entire country in a new direction when it requires unlearning decades of opposite habits?

Here’s what I know from decades of experience working one on one with people:

You don’t do it with rules.

You don’t do it with shame.

And you definitely don’t do it by asking people to change everything at once.

✨You do it through habit change✨

Real, sustainable change starts small:

• One meal
• One swap
• One decision that feels doable
• One moment of confidence instead of overwhelm

When people feel empowered, they move forward.

When they feel judged or confused, they shut down.

Why am I over the moon about this???

Because it’s exactly why we built RenewRx

Over the past year, we spoke with 100+ OB and MFM providers about where gestational diabetes (GDM) care feels hardest, even when everyone is working within standard workflows and best practice.

This is the second post in a 10-part series sharing those pain points and how practices are navigating real-world constraints to support better outcomes.

For many patients, the first GDM visit happens when they are:

• Newly diagnosed & emotionally overwhelmed
• Still learning about diabetes & what affects blood sugar
• Unsure how to track or interpret glucose
• Without reliable food or glucose logs

At the same time, education needs are extremely high and visit time is extremely limited.

That forces providers to triage:

• What must be covered now
• What has to wait
• What may never get fully addressed

As one provider told us:

The real constraint

I'm not talking about effort, skill, or clinical expertise.

One-time visits are structurally incapable of driving sustained behavior change, especially for nutrition, SDoH, monitoring, and daily decision-making.

Education and habit formation have to happen outside the visit, not just during it.

This is a major reason RenewRx exists today.
