My current role is leading the charge for Transformative Learning for the School of Business, four campuses. The Center for Creative Leadership suggests that 70% of learning takes place through informal learning programming. Therefore, my role directly impacts many experiences that increase transformative learning: • Workplace mentoring and coaching • Informal expert learning sessions (industry immersion, industry-specific skill-building) • Social learning groups, and Industry Immersion Programming (Mezirow & Associates, 2000). Transformative learning focuses on creating an intentional experiential learning environment that builds strong business acumen in students as they move to accomplish their academic and professional goals. I will joyfully continue to oversee all the business Career Education and serve as faculty for the required Career Development Course BUSN 3005 course. It is here that I have assisted over 8,500 students in landing their first job and internships since designing the career curriculum in 2008. In addition, I teach and coach over 500 students a year who are all uniquely different in their career and student development by assessing career curriculum to meet corporate hiring requirements, increase job marketability and assist our talented business students in finding meaningful work. I am most proud to have received The University of Connecticut Provost's Faculty Award for "Teaching Excellence" based on student surveys for eight consecutive years.
