Led the formulation labs for Maybelline development, strategizing the streamlining of the launch plan and portfolio.  Launched Vinyl Ink, SuperStay Lumimatte Foundation, SuperStay Bi-Phase Setting Spray, and more to come.

China Luxury Makeup Co-Lab & Maybelline Formulation Lab Head

Created and led a new function to strengthen the China strategy for product development for our $1B+ luxury makeup business, including formula selection, testing strategy, shade development, and product communication. Based on the success of this pilot, this new co-lab function has been rolled out to additional product categories and countries.

Expanded and strengthened the claims and scientific communication for China-led makeup launches, adapting to the acceleration of digital channels and new CSAR regulations. Led the CSAR onboarding and adaptation for our global makeup community.

Transformed our historical shade development expertise into collaborative & interactive workshops for Lancome, Maybelline, L'Oreal Paris, YSL, Armani, Valentino, and Prada. Notably, this resulted in 8 of the top 10 luxury lip shades on the China market coming from L'Oreal brands.

China Luxury Makeup Virtual Lab Leader, Scientific Product Communication, & Color Development

Pioneering the intersection of beauty and tech, guaranteeing the performance of cutting-edge projects by designing testing strategies to explore user experience, clinical performance, consumer tradeoffs, and value proposition.  Globally responsible for leading the company into new territories of consumer insights, big data, and artificial intelligence to build and characterize our beauty tech projects.

Global AVP, Category Performance Leader - Augmented Beauty

Reinvigorated the way we test products by implementing digital strategies in product evaluation, utilizing IoT and smartphone apps to collect data in real time.  Saved $380k annually by designing and implementing a study operator program, which also further developed and engaged the team.

AVP - US Instrumental Evaluation

Enhanced applicability of data for business decisions through leading a transversal program to predict performance by mathematically linking different types of tests together.  Boosted scientific expertise in the department by managing $2M in equipment and strategically selecting capital expenditures, while leading and developing a team of 20 scientists.

Transformed an operational testing team of 12 into a creative, innovative department by establishing a three-year strategy for increasing expertise & capabilities, building new knowledge, and expanding into new technical categories such as 3D and digital.  Utilized testing results to inform and influence all U.S. innovation projects across hair, skin, and makeup categories.

Manager - US Instrumental Evaluation

Turned consumer insights, market data, portfolio performance, and relationships with marketing teams into a made-from-scratch strategy for our startup research center in Mumbai.  Helped to grow an initial team of 10 to a research center of 100, contributing to office and lab design, team building, connecting with other hubs, and harmonizing global strategy with local needs.

Expanded India strategy into zone strategy for Southeast Asia, balancing synergies and specificities for the local markets.  Developed a local team to manage scientific communication, claims substantiation, project supervision, market assessments, and business relationships.

India R&I Head Liaison for Development Labs - All Product Categories

Improved efficiency of product development by 50% via piloting new ways of working, such as DOE approach to mascara formulation, waste reduction initiatives, and electronic stability software.  Launched products under the Maybelline Volum’Express mascara and Eyestudio shadow lines.
