Juggling between shift work in a call centre and running my small IT services business, I studied part time for my bachelor's degree. I joined banking after graduating. While I did well at work, I did not take care of myself. My weight ballooned and I weighed in at a peak weight of 125 kg. I decided to make some changes and lost 50 kg over the years, quit smoking and got my MBA while continuing to achieve a high level of performance at work. In UOB Privilege Reserve (North Asia), I work with high net worth individuals to protect and grow their wealth. These solutions include wealth planning and wealth advisory. Seeking to collaborate with those considering these solutions and their advisors. I am comfortable working with family businesses across different cultures. I write about doing business in Singapore/Asia, wealth management and building one's talent stack. (views are my own) At this stage of my career, I am also looking to publish a book, speak, host and consult. Reach out to me and let's work together. Fun Fact: I post videos on YouTube featuring my food adventures in Singapore. Looking forward to be able to film other countries' cuisine soon. Turbulence. It can be quite stressful to see markets zig zag in response to fast moving executive orders, Great Nations dynamics and economic data. But it is a good opportunity as a banking/wealth management professional to reach out to clients and do the following: - Review. - Adjust if needed. - Ensure the long term objectives are in line with current activities. It is not the time to hide. Be proactive as a professional. Reach out and do follow ups. Disclaimer: Not giving financial advice. Photo credit: Taken by me. Turbulence is normal but not always welcome. Keep the objectives in mind and go forward.
Trying new things. I been going pilates regularly to fix a back issue. A typical session is challenging but not too taxing. There will be some exertion but not so much to the point where I am perspiring a lot. Tried out vertical pilates for the first time recently. It was tough. Lots of core strength and flexibility required. I found the class to be tough and decided to stick to my regular routine till I get better. Trying out new things is good. It lets us be aware of new possibilities and new horizons. Testing our limits is how we stretch and grow. What new class or item have you tried recently? Photo credit: Mine. Taken at class.
Running toward postive energy and running from negative energy. One of best places to take a walk or slow jog is the area facing the Bund, near the Huangpu river. There might be a lot of people at times but it relatively easy to navigate. What I run away from: - People who tell me everything is impossible and constantly looking only at the negative side of things. They have no to little positive mental attitude towards life. - People who tell others that things will go smoothly without hard work. When I was young, I used to believe people who did said they did not study but yet get good grades. You might laugh at this. I laugh at myself even now. The fact is they would study hard but would act nonchalant during school hours. This also spills into the workplace. What I run toward: - People who have a positive mental attitude and energy. Bad things sometimes happen to them but they roll with the punches and move on. They adapt and grow. - Fitness and energy. As I get older, I no longer take my body for granted. If I am not fit, there is no way I can do great work. Fitness is a signalling tool used by prospective business partners and potential customers. What do you run away from and toward?
