Juggling between shift work in a call centre and running my small IT services business, I studied part time for my bachelor's degree. I joined banking after graduating. While I did well at work, I did not take care of myself. My weight ballooned and I weighed in at a peak weight of 125 kg. I decided to make some changes and lost 50 kg over the years, quit smoking and got my MBA while continuing to achieve a high level of performance at work. In UOB Privilege Reserve (North Asia), I work with high net worth individuals to protect and grow their wealth. These solutions include wealth planning and wealth advisory. Seeking to collaborate with those considering these solutions and their advisors. I am comfortable working with family businesses across different cultures. I write about doing business in Singapore/Asia, wealth management and building one's talent stack. (views are my own) At this stage of my career, I am also looking to publish a book, speak, host and consult. Reach out to me and let's work together. Fun Fact: I post videos on YouTube featuring my food adventures in Singapore. Looking forward to be able to film other countries' cuisine soon. Sometimes all it takes is a simple nudge. I was walking past this sign in the USA recently and saw this sign. “Please clean up after your dog” was next to a rubbish bin. What made things easier for dog owners was the plastic bag next to it. While I understand environmental concerns with plastic bags, they are likely among the most used items to clean up dog poo. When things are made easier to be done, they are more likely to be done. Sometimes they are made mandatory to make sure they are done. Examples are: - Default retirements plans that do some form of “forced” savings. Singapore’s CPF has mandatory employee and employer contributions to fund worker’s retirement plans. But if the CPF was voluntary only, it is highly likely many would not fund their accounts on their own. Saving goals are more likely to be achieved when they are automated or planned in advance. - Exercise is important but tends to be done when scheduled at a fixed time. A friend who worked in a gym shared that clients who scheduled early morning workouts tend to stick to their workout routines. He believes it helps that there are few good reasons to reschedule an early morning workout. Afternoon or evening workouts have many reasons not to take place such as work or family commitments. I am presently keeping my workouts to twice a week. When they are fixed, at regular days and not too frequently (ideally not every other day), I find myself looking forward to the workouts. When I try to schedule 4 workouts a week, too many things happen and it can be very disruptive. How do you create nudges to make things easier for yourself to achieve certain objectives?
