CURRENT RESEARCH: Packet structures of playing cards that "cannot" be mixed — they're invariant under virtually every systematic shuffling procedure used today (and have remarkable Symmetry groups). _______________________________ My most recent professional interests have taken me deep into the heart of mathematical card magic, where little had been done to formalize and unify the disparate mathematical principles and properties that have thus far been poorly understood and/or appreciated. While attempting to formalize the study of mathematical card magic, I have discovered structures (and mappings among these structures) that yield packet configurations that are invariant under virtually every systematic shuffling procedure used today. In other words, I have discovered packet structures, which have since been christened "Bessey sequences" & "Quasi-Bessey sequences" (by one of my YouTube subscribers), that are mathematically "indestructible" relative to the above-mentioned shuffling procedures. My study and applications of packet structures & shuffles have taken the field of mathematical card magic deep into Group theory, Combinatorics, Probability, Information theory, and (next) Category theory. But, concepts such as the "Hummer principle" (a bedrock principle in math card magic) have even led me to develop physical models (involving the concatenation of magnets and systems of magnets) that shed light on this otherwise arcane principle. On my "Hidden Structures" YouTube channel, I present simple math card effects (that still carry quite a punch) all the way up the ladder of sophistication to what I call "extreme" or "absolute" card magic. All of these, nonetheless, can be performed (though, perhaps, not fully understood) by anyone endowed with ordinary dexterity of mind and hand.
