Cranfield School of Management

Cranfield University incubates start-up businesses from their conception through to being investment ready and operational. Start-Up Weekends are run by a combination of academics and practitioners and involve them giving short talks on key issues such as how to determine markets, build teams, understand key numbers and how to manage your intellectual property. The aim is for the students is to be confident about the viability of their business ideas and take them forward to the next stage: investment. Students mainly work in small groups with the assistance and support of highly experienced mentors, who help them to get underneath the business ideas and beliefs in taking the venture forward. On the Saturday, students will pitch to a panel of mentors and receive feedback about the viability of their ideas.
