From a starting a local news website, to an English teacher with a podcast, to running my own little content & copywriting agency my career has been on quite a journey.

What my career has always come back to, though, is words. Now I write words that boost conversions, soar in SERPs, and help users navigate websites/apps with 0 friction. 

When I'm not doing that, I'm running my own side projects such as the Copy Comrades newsletter, a peer-driven newsletter for copywriters.

What started as an internal training resource has now turned into a customer-facing podcast—and I couldn't be having more fun with it! 😆

"The Lite Lounge", our product podcast, is an off-the-cuff, behind the scenes look at how we build things in MailerLite. 

Behind every release is a team of dedicated product managers, developers, customer education specialists, QA analysts, product designers, Customer support managers and an over caffeinated product marketing manager. 🤪 

One of our values as a company is that we focus on people, so I wanted to showcase the people behind what we build. To help customers understand how these new features can improve their workflows but also put a face to the product they love using. 

What I love about this is that we didn't start with any overblown expectations. "Can you do that interview with Nikola but as a podcast for YouTube and we'll see how it goes?" That's how Veronika, our content manager, first had the idea. 

Not, "Let's do a podcast and plan out 6 months of content and book studio time and find huge influencers to be our guests!!!!" 

Nah. We focus on value over flash (and sometimes granny shopping carts).

I have many little rules to live by, but that one is probably one of my most cherished. Because when you're the person who can connect others to opportunity you: 

💾  Become everyone's go-to 
💾  Get involved in cool projects 
💾  Become smarter cause you get to meet and exchange ideas with really cool people
💾  Get presented with more opportunities: If you help people then people help you 
💾  Have more options (if I lost my job tomorrow I'm pretty sure I'd be fine) 

I've built up a solid network over the years and I barely attend live events. 
I've made great connections to folks in our weird little online world by just engaging with their content, being active in private online communities, reaching out to people to show them how I implemented their strategies etc. 

And the result is that people think of me when they see a good-fit opportunity or come to me for intros and I love that. So my unsolicited advice for growing your network is simply to engage with others, appreciate their work and above all ask for intros from the network you currently have. 

For example, I just had an amazing chat with a great Head of Product Marketing who gave me solid advice on how to make a bigger impact with my work. All because I just asked for an intro in one of my Slack communities. It really is that simple! 

Don't overcomplicate it. ✌️
