I went from spending every waking moment with my son to some days not even seeing him awake. Something had to change. Then 2020 hit, and amidst the chaos, I found a silver lining—I could be present again, with my son, with my life. I realised that working flexibly shouldn’t hinder my career progression, especially when I was already at the top of my game. Despite my team consistently topping the internal tables (including securing a brand-new customer on a volume hire campaign, securing 50 new hires for them in 2 weeks) I was met with yet another, “Why do you manage a team? Other mums don’t do that here…” conversation. And that’s when I broke. I hung up my people management boots, got promoted, and—on the cusp of my director promotion—handed in my notice. Why? Because I kept hearing the same story from other women in CX and Contact Centre roles: redundancies while on maternity leave, flexible working requests denied, technical demotions on return… I knew I had to do something. And that's how Sudale Search was born. Becoming a Founder was never on my agenda, but knowing that 80% of the CX industry identifies as female, while only 20% make it to leadership positions? That doesn't sit right with me.
