Made By True

Co-founder and CFO/COO of beef jerky and biltong snack food brand, growing from selling at local farmers markets in California to 4,500 locations nationwide, including stores such as Costco, Sprouts, and Safeway/Albertsons.  Made By True was a pioneering brand in the US launch of Biltong, a South African style jerky known for its tender texture, higher protein content, and zero sugar. The Made by True brand was sold to its manufacturer in 2020. 

I was responsible for managing operations at three different co-manufacturing facilities, multiple 3PL and fulfillment warehouses, and our end to end supply chain.  I was also responsible for administering all financial operations, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, cost accounting, payroll, banking, and tax returns. I am responsible for coordinating trade spend as well as customer EDI portals and online vendor portals among major customers and distribution channels. I performed budgeting and sales forecasting by working in close collaboration with the executive team. My job duties included managing both month-end and year-end accounting close processes while reporting to the shareholders and board of directors on quarterly basis. I implemented strategies to save cost, optimize inventory management, and enhance trade spend effectiveness.  Lastly, I identified and resolved areas of concerns within overall supply chain process, resulting in improved product margins and preventing out of stock situations by efficiently managing inventory at all customer distribution centers.

As Senior Accountant and Auditor, I focused primarily on private business clients in the construction and technology industries as well as Non-Profit Organizations and Employee Benefit Plans.  I managed business tax returns (S-corp, C-Corp, LLC, Partnerships) and individual tax returns for clients. My duties involved reporting financial position and performance of a business by conducting comprehensive financial statement audits, reviews and compilations in accordance with GAAP. Here, I streamlined business workflow by working closely with CFOs, controllers, and CEO’s of various private companies. I was responsible for identifying specific risk by performing detailed analysis on client and industry-wide financials. Lastly, I performed various organizational functions, including conducting risk assessment and developing planning and analytical procedures to evaluate macroeconomic environment.
