EngageWell IPA

Lead IPA member agencies on integration to support contracts with payers, particularly a newly forming Accountable Care Organization (ACO) led by Amida Care and the development of expanded set of interventions for active substance users including new Medicaid-funded Harm Reduction services.
► Facilitated merger between IDUHA IPA and iHealth member agencies forming EngageWell IPA, supporting contracting in a value-based payment (VBP) environment
► Obtained two VBP managed care plan contracts including a first of its kind upside/downside risk contract for FQHC
► Launched $1.1 million telehealth initiative (FCC/NYCT) bringing mobile devices and connectivity to providers and patients
► Raised $1.25 million in COVID emergency funding for IPA and member agencies for telehealth, PPE, and Food Relief
► Implemented innovative $2.1 million HCBS Infrastructure Fund transformation project improving engagement
► Obtained a $2.583 million grant for IPA start-up from NYS OMH/OASAS along with several smaller grants from NY Community Trust and AIDS United totaling $450,000
► Chosen for Robert Wood Johnson Foundation funded ARCH Initiative led by Nonprofit Finance Fund (1 of 3 nationally). Provided $150K and intensive technical assistance on cost analysis and healthcare services rate setting

iHealth NYS

As the organization’s first ED, oversaw the policy agenda for a statewide collaborative of 25 community-based organizations united to advocate for and negotiate on behalf of communities, members and chronically ill Medicaid recipients. Advocated with NYS Department of Health, AIDS Institute, Office of Mental Health, Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services and other government agencies. Provided leadership and support for statewide policy development with a focus on rate development and Medicaid redesign. Developed iHealth capacity and infrastructure, including strategic planning, budgeting, board and member support, legal services and partnerships with other healthcare entities. Represented the membership in key governance and committee meetings within various healthcare reform. Supported board operations and membership meetings. Set strategic vision for the organization in partnership with Board Chair & Directors.

► Oversaw several key initiatives to stabilize and improve the organization: strategic planning (beg. September 2017), lobbying (hiring lobbying contractor, beg. October 2017), coordinating with pro-bono legal counsel (participation in an Independent Practice Association and value based payment strategic consultation), and initiating a sustainability plan including fundraising (development committee), increased dues (value proposition) and revenue through services.

Led administrative and clinical operations of a $9M program with 135 employees providing care management to more than 3000 Medicaid recipients with multiple chronic health conditions including HIV/AIDS and severe mental illness. Directed strategic planning, outreach, care coordination, compliance, billing, data management, administration and operations. Represented CAMBA and program in community outreach and networking. Participated on multiple state workgroups, Health Home governing bodies, DSRIP PPS Executive Committees and local Brooklyn health care collaborations.

► Spearheaded significant program growth over five years from 12 employees, 125 clients, and a $900K budget to 135 employees, 3000 clients and $9M budget.

► Facilitated investment and ownership in Brooklyn Health Home, one of New York State’s largest HHs. CAMBA’s client base was a full 25% of the entire Health Home. 

► Obtained a $150K grant over two years for implementation of evidence-based Critical Time Intervention (CTI) program for homeless shelter client in Health Home program.

► Guided CAMBA to receiving $750K+ in Health Home Development Funds (twice as much as any other agency in Brooklyn Health Home) due to significant growth and organization size.

► Personally recruited all existing directors and many current managers; mentored the Senior Director to promotion to VP of the program.

► To increase vital partnerships with community and healthcare providers, developed vital referral relationships with shelter programs, hospitals and medical centers. 

► Improved internal data management by capitalizing on the current care management systems, Adsystech’s Enginuity, to manage all status and demographic data for clients within the HH program. 

► Led implementation of multiple health care related reforms, including Home and Community Based Services, Health and Recovery Plan (HARP) transition and DSRIP.

Implemented a pilot employment program for dozens of underserved clients and tenants. Coordinated supportive network including members of each division of agency, partner organizations, government and private service organizations and employers.

► Provided direct employment services to assist formerly homeless and low-income participants with transitioning from public assistance to stable employment

Spearheaded the development of a new regional chapter covering New York, New Jersey, and Southwest Connecticut. Served as main support staff for and link between the local community boards of directors and national staff.

► Successfully raised more than $350K through implementation of five regional community walks with foundation staff and community volunteers.

Southern Arizona Alliance of Nonprofits

Developed and supported all aspects of a fledgling nonprofit alliance that ultimately linked 50 local organizations in a collaborative effort. Led all operations, strategic planning, fundraising activities, program/service development, media/public relations, member recruitment, web development, and event facilitation.

► Efforts in banding together Tucson non-profits were a successful precursor to the member organizations eventually joining the statewide Arizona Association of Nonprofits.

Managed all aspects of a small non-profit organization reporting directly to the Board of Directors.  

► Initiated successful board member recruitment drive.

► Initiated programs providing services to patients at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and to residents at local senior facilities, including receiving grants and laying the ground work for future funding.

► As liaison for Heart Touch applied and received a two-year $300,000+ NIH Grant in partnership between Heart Touch and Cedar-Sinai Medical Center studying the affects of massage on depression and pain management in patients with end stage AIDS.

► Facilitated extensive 3-day volunteer training in providing compassionate touch to children, seniors and people with AIDS.  Rewrote and developed new materials for the training.

Led daily operations, supervision and program expansion for a national program of over 4,000 volunteers in twelve cities. Managed program with a budget of over $1.8M

► Raised over $100M managing twenty large fundraising events with an average of 57% of every dollar remaining for the cause.

► Provided supervision, support and resources to Program Directors on all Pallotta TeamWorks events, including developing Program Director training and materials.

► Traveled extensively to support events and represent Pallotta TeamWorks at public speaking events.

► As Event Director, responsible for hiring, training and managing the staff of the GTE Big Ride Across America.

► Designed, coordinated and facilitated the first company wide staff event training and internship program.
