Here is a Re-design I made, inspired by a Bento-style design made by the talented Andrea Montini

I did it after his Tweet where I commented my POV on Bento style design that I don't like for web design, as it is ineffective design.

So I played the game and quickly designed something to illustrate the basics I always keep in mind:

"One big, One medium, One small. White space. Emphasis."

"Restructure the grid to have a clear path for the eye with fewer elements at once" 

==> Bento style has up to 9 elements with no hierarchy, 7 is a maximum. Where sizing only can split it to make it digestible by the brain. Then readable, then actionable.

Here my design has now 3 elements and a clear hierarchy in macro and micro. 

"Think about the hierarchy in the CTA and the main goal CTA(s) and their order in action importance."

My result is one of many. The base is the same the outputs are infinite.

France, Winter, January 2019: Fired multiple times. Away from home. Lost in the middle of nowhere. 
 
I was still a waiter. It was the start of my season. 
 
→ Auvergne - 1 week - 
 
Contract day. 
 
The pay? Turned out to be a scam. 
 
Disrespect led to conflict. 
 
I sensed trouble. That very day, in under 3 hours of non-stop calling post-service, I landed a new job in the Alpes, hundreds of kilometres away. 
 
Next day? In the snow, hitchhiking. Off to work ASAP in an unknown mountainous region. No directions. 
 
→ Alpes - 2 to 3 months - 
 
Again, the pay was deceptive. Conflicts flared up. 
 
All my waiter jobs came with housing. This one? It wasn't official. 
 
Then came the ultimatum. My boss's strategy to fire me? Take away my place. In the heart of the mountains, no shelter means facing the cold or leaving. 
 
That very evening, I discreetly reached out to everyone I knew. A girl came through, mentioning her grandparents' apartment, usually reserved for parties... 
 
Now I am alone in a 6-bedroom apartment with vue. 
 
Grateful to her. The next day, I was back at work, unbeknownst to my boss. You can imagine his face. 
 
I've got a bag full of stories like this. Wins, losses. Tears, determination. All my life in a bag, as the half is work uniforms. 
 
Never give in. 
 
Dare to stand out. 
 
This is how you feel alive, with wins that matter. It's about confronting obstacles, facing uncertainty, or retreating in defeat. 
 
It's my way of forging resilience. The faint light at the end of the tunnel? It's driven me further than I ever anticipated, year after year.

A few months ago I created a post about how early we are with Webflow.

I did a simple search in the Linkedin search bar for people: “Webflow”

and...

... The results were 50,000 people with Webflow in their profile.

A few months later is now 75,000.

Website Production Process

Searching for problems that we never met is our daily work.

So knowing when to look can save you days.

When you are a beginner it is hard because every problem seems new and so the solution has to be found every time.

Here are places to look:

- ChatGPT: Just learn to prompt, play with it and solve your code problems. Today you can't do without an AI assistant. A big tip, for example, copy-paste documentation of an API (e.g. Lenis or Swiper) to nourish the AI.

- Slater (Webflow App)

- Webflow Forum

- Webflow Discord (non-official)

- Webflow Slack Communities

- Youtube (subscribe to all Webflow Developers channels possible with an account special for work purposes)

- Rest. Do not hesitate to continue on something else and come back to it later, few minutes, hours or the next day. 

In this job, you sometimes need to digest new pieces of information and process knowledge to find different logic to make the bricks fit.

- Duplicate the project and/or note times of changes (for backups), and make tests on the duplicate. Heavy explorations can lost yourself in the process and come back to the starting point is often needed to keep a clean build.

- Create your own Webflow boilerplate, in Notion for example. Keep the codes you create, the problems you solved etc.

I take my design inspirations from different sources. Which ones? 

The sources are multiple because...

- It is also a great source for motion design/animations. As I see a lot of developers are lacking it.

- Doing website design and only looking at other websites for inspiration is boring. Just doing a side-step is pulling you out of the crowd.

Ever been told to religiously follow Google's algorithm updates? Think again.

AI tools are fantastic but they have a learning curve.

Practice, implement, improve.

The good news, it is quite fast.

Results are proportioned to the deepness of your prompts.

Also, keep in mind, that is a step-by-step conversation. Ask things one by one, and refine them to get the expected unique result.

Throw one sentence and expecting miracles is BS.

- Be polite -- but not brown-noser: Start with Hello, finish with Best.

- Don't wait for me to make a decision -- I will not. Give time or link for meetings. Be precise.

- No small talk by writing. Ever, never.

- Don't be vague -- Describe with no fluff with precision, give actions, images, and videos. Use bullet points.

- READ, and be sure to answer or do what is mentioned/addressed to you. If you are not able to understand the content in two sentences, then you are erased from the map.
