People and Culture Manager

Villa Maria

Villa Maria is a not for profit organization providing quality services and life enhancing opportunities for older people and children and adults with a disability, their families and careers with over 1,200 employees throughout Victoria. Villa Maria has five (5) diverse business units covered under eight (8) different Awards and Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBA’s) and covers Residential Aged Care, Disability Services, Retirement Living, Education, and Community Services. Main duties and responsibilities include:

•Provide support and advice to staff on all aspects of Human Resource Management including general employee and industrial relations and employment conditions across diverse business units and statutory obligations
•Oversee all recruitment for Villa Maria including workforce planning, position description analysis, alignment to Awards and EBA’s, and coaching and mentoring for team leaders and managers
•Development of a strategic recruitment plan for growth areas of the business to double headcount in twelve (12) months
•Develop and review a range of policies and procedures to ensure Villa Maria meets their statutory obligations including updating the Parental Leave Policy to reflect changes to entitlements
•Comparison and review of all Awards and EBA’s to ensure policies and procedures are align with legal requirements
•Assist with the implementation of new rostering system, KRONOS, and data cleanse of current Human Resource data on CHRIS21
•Management of Equal Opportunity portfolio including revitalizing the Diversity Committee and undertaking a new strategic plan and key performance indicators
•Coordination of annual compliance reports to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency and submission of Employer of Choice Application
•Provide change management advice and support across the business units through restructuring and redundancy

CARE Australia

CARE Australia is an international not for profit development agency with offices in Canberra, Melbourne and Asia and the Pacific. Main duties and responsibilities include managing the day to day HR and strategic activities of CARE Australia including:

•Assist in the review, development and implementation of HR policies, programs and procedures that encourage flexibility, responsiveness and promote the health and wellbeing of staff including the development of a Well Being Framework

•Coached and mentored managers on a range of people management practices to ensure the team and business success including managing unsatisfactory performance and workplace complaints

Senior HR Advisor

CARE Australia is an international not for profit development agency with offices in Canberra, Melbourne and Asia and the Pacific. Main duties and responsibilities include recruitment for all vacancies in Australia and overseas, communication conditions of service and interpreting labour law. Other responsibilities include:

•Manage the activities associated with recruitment and selection, engagement and conditions of service functions
•Provide advice and consultancy services on complex recruitment and conditions of service policies, practices and procedures
•Managed the immigration of two managers on 457 visa to Permanent Residents
•Provide associated reports and statistics
•Maintained/developed and enhance administrative systems associated with recruitment, with particular emphasis on utilisation of technology to streamline and automate processes including the creation of an online database 
•Liaised with internal and external stakeholders on engagement, conditions of service and recruitment and selection matters.
•Reviewed and implemented the new Induction program

Recruitment Advisor

The Address Hotels + Resorts

The Palace Hotel is a 5 star luxury hotel owned by Emaar Hospitality Group which is part of Emaar Properties International. Main duties and responsibilities include overall Human Resource Management of the property with a focus on recruitment for the entire property, reporting directly into the Director of Human Resources. Responsibilities included:

•Manage a team of 3 colleagues reporting directly into the Director of Human Resources
•Responsible for building successful candidate profiles, clarify job skills and competencies using the best sourcing strategies and techniques to attract internal and external candidates
•Writing job descriptions and specification across the property
•Meet business objectives and review specific job roles to meet criteria by completing job evaluations
•Understanding, interpreting and communicating United Arab Emirate Labour Law with Directors and candidates
•Implementation of the new HRMS system
•Responsible for ensuring completion of bi-weekly and monthly reports on recruitment and manning including monthly and annual turnover
•Streamline recruitment process by developing talent database, candidate profiles, and weekly meetings with Directors of the property to ensure constant and updated communication
•Advised on recruitment policies and candidates directly to Directors and General Manager
•Understanding and communicating Human Resource policy and procedures to over 400 colleagues from 36 different nationalities
•Design, implementation and delivery of the property Orientation 3 day program
•Backfilling of the HR Director role as required

Jumeirah Group / Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts

Jumeirah Restaurants manages and franchises a diverse portfolio of casual to premium casual restaurants within the United Arab Emirates and globally and is part of the Jumeirah International hospitality management company based in the United Arab Emirates. Main duties and responsibilities include Operational Human Resource Management for over 10 individual restaurants throughout Dubai. Responsibilities included:

•Managed transition process coordinating mergers and redundancies of colleagues across Jumeirah Restaurants
•Coached and developed managers through managing unsatisfactory performance
•Managed various recruitment trips to Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia and the on boarding process of successful candidates 
•Knowledge of different Labour Laws throughout South East Asia and ability to communicate to both candidates and Directors
•Coordinator of Jumeirah Restaurants Social Corporate Responsibility committee
•Manager in Charge of relocations and repatriations for successful candidates and colleagues of Jumeirah Restaurants including flights, accommodation and end of service agreements
•Responsible for designing and leading successful Open Recruitment days with up to 200 candidates for various positions throughout the business
•Managed the recruitment of over 50 different nationalities throughout the business
•Maintained relationships with Corporate Human Resource Directors, external recruitment consultants and Directors of Human Resources within Jumeirah International 
•Worked closely with the Central Recruitment team to ensure an understanding of the business and enabling successful recruitment matches
•Coordinated Jumeirah Restaurant Assessment Centers for a range of positions to ensure valid and reliable decisions in regards to successful candidacy       
•Assist in the development and implementation of the Employee Engagement Survey

Last night we wrapped up the year with our Brisbane humaneer gathering… and honestly, it was awesome.
