If you don't find your voice then someone else will speak for you. When I started law school as a first-generation law student, it hit me just how used to "putting myself out there" I was. I had been freelancing since high school so I was used to reaching out to people cold, pitching ideas, and asking questions. But I still felt scattered: I had no clarity, no intention, and no true understanding of myself. When I started posting on LinkedIn about the areas of the law I was interested in, imposter syndrome hit hard. Every time I clicked 'post,' I cringed. What changed? - I discerned what my values are. - I focused on what I bring to the (digital) table. - I executed even when I was scared, nervous, or tired. Now, I get to help other lawyers and law students do the same. The internet doesn't have to be the Devil's playground but for it to be any better, we need more good people to show up. And this is only one of a hundred reasons why you should make your Digital Presence a priority.
