When I was eight years old, I played pretend by myself in the golden fields of rural Nebraska for hours until my parents were confident my cheeks would turn into plums from exposure to the harsh winds of the plains. I would unabashedly act out Shakespearean plays (or so I thought) and picked grapes in the garden to feed to turkeys, coyotes, and other animals I shouldn't have been within arm's length of -- per my mother's requests to keep all of my ten fingers until I was at least 18. So with this fearlessness, I walked into my first Career Day at North Ward Elementary. I passed the bank tellers, the firefighters, and the local journalist, straight to my teacher to find out where I could inquire about my future vocation. "Well, Kimberly, what do you want to be when you grow up?" My teacher kindly asked. "A princess opera-singer." My passions as a child were limitless, and I'm happy to report that to this day, that trait remains the same. That little freckled girl did grow up to sing and study opera as a lyric coloratura soprano. And though she is still waiting for a call back from Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, she never stopped pursuing the unconventional and the seemingly impossible. You see, I am not the kind of person that will look my dreams in the face and say no, and because of that, I work my hardest to help others do the same. Through my career and personal life, I strive to help others master the skills they need to thrive. I am a lifelong learner passionate about what makes the world a better place. I am a creative soul with an analytical mind, and there is no goal I won't help you pursue if you endeavor to share it with me.
