After completing my Water Resource Engineering Technology diploma from Saskatchewan Polytechnic, I was fortunate to gain employment with the Water Security Agency in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The first few months of employment were highlighted with extensive safety and technical training, noted under Licenses & certifications on my profile, for my position in the Infrastructure Division's Operations and Maintenance (O&M). The position leans primarily towards work in the field. During the runoff season, the O&M division is responsible for monitoring the stage and discharge levels to anticipate the operation of structures. They ensure that reservoirs and channels have adequate supply levels to meet the water needs of people, industries, and recreation. Maintaining control structures is essential to ensure safety, which involves vegetation management, running mechanical diagnostics, and conducting structural inspections. Prior to employment as an Engineering Technologist, I had a diverse career background. Initially, my professional journey revolved around commercial food and wine production, strongly emphasizing hospitality and tourism in this sector. As a winemaker, I was fortunate to work internationally, gaining invaluable experience through consecutive harvests in Australia, British Columbia, California, and Chile. Subsequently, I settled in British Columbia and assumed leadership roles within four well-established, award-winning wineries. Eventually, I partnered with Dunham & Froese Estate Winery, where my contributions were recognized with numerous industry awards, including the prestigious 2008 British Columbia New Winery of the Year Award. Furthermore, Tony Aspler, the author of Wineries of Canada, ranked us as the "number two up-and-coming winery to watch in Canada" in the same year. After moving to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, I started another business venture by creating and establishing Coteau Hills Creamery. This company specialized in producing artisan cheeses that gained popularity quickly, and we started supplying high-quality products to both retail and wholesale customers across the province. Although it was bittersweet to sell the business, I continue to produce cheese on a smaller scale as a hobby.
