Supervised up to 16 HR specialists that supported a fluctuating, temporary workforce of 300-1000+ federal employees.  

The HR staff helped recruit office and field workers by screening, interviewing, hiring, and arranging training for up to 500 new-hires per week.  We processed status changes, and passed multiple audits, all while entering weekly payroll up to $500K (PeopleSoft)

The Census is an incredible undertaking of multiple short-term operations. At peak, the Census employed 1.5 million temporary workers in 2010, where nothing existed until 24 months prior. The operational flux was both challenging and rewarding.

Oversight of a grant-based federal employment program and job board for student jobs. Helped non-profits recruit students for employment on and off campus.

Designed and gave numerous interactive presentations about job search related activities. Counseled students individually and in small groups on ways to secure immediate employment and plan their long-tern careers.

08/26/23 Update: I WAS FIRED FOR HAVING PRINTED A FLYER DOUBLE-SIDED THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SINGLE-SIDED. EVEN THOUGH I OFFERED TO PAY FOR THE ERROR OUT OF MY POCKET. I INFORMED THE STUDENT POPULATION ABOUT TWO GRANTS ON ONE PIECE OF PAPER. SEEMED LOGICAL SINCE STUDENTS ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR WORK EITHER INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSITY. IT PUT THE UNIVERSITY AT TOO MUCH RISK.

State of Texas (DARS)

Providing career counseling and resume writing services for blue and white collar workers with all manner of hidden and visual disability. Evaluating, testing, screening, and determining eligibility for state vocational counseling services.

Used psychometric and personality assessments to show individuals how to communicate better about their strengths and weaknesses.  Also interview coached on how to discuss their accommodation needs.

Consulting with local businesses to enhance their diversity recruitment, EEO and affirmative action strategies.  Constructing options for employees who became ill due to disease or injury, enabling them to maintain employment, thus reducing businesses turnover. Determining job search plans for workers having to "retool" into a different industry.
