I am a teacher with eighteen years of classroom experience looking to utilize my skills outside of the classroom. The skills listed below, and many more, demonstrate why teachers, like me, are prepared for roles in a multitude of careers and environments. Management: Teachers manage around18-30 students at one time. This includes, but is not limited to, addressing an individual's social-emotional, intellectual, as well as physical needs. Teachers not only manage students, but also the concerns of parents, colleagues, administrators, and community members on top of all the projects taking place within the classroom. Goal setting and data analysis: Teachers are evaluated yearly by their administrators through setting and achieving goals. These goals are based on data collection and are evaluated using benchmark assessments, observations, and self-reflection. Teachers also work with students to set goals for growth and mastery. They create assessments to measure understanding and make changes to curriculum and instruction according to the evaluation of assessments given in order to achieve growth. Teachers must consistently collect data and evaluate the effectiveness of presentations and resources in order to assist students in reaching goals while also reaching one's professional goals. Presentation: Teachers create lessons that engage students' interests while both teaching the skill at hand and addressing the learning styles of all individuals. A lesson plan should include visual, auditory, as well as kinesthetic components to reach all learners in the ways they best receive information. Teachers utilize many new pieces of technology and applications in order to make presentations exciting and enriching. Training and leadership: Teachers set the tone and environment, as well as the effectiveness of instruction through leadership. Teachers train students to follow plans and procedures by being strong leaders and mentors. Teachers use many forms of methodology and experience to train students in their specific subject areas. Teachers understand how to best train students in procedures and learning by recognizing students' needs and learning styles and adjusting instruction accordingly. Communication: Teachers are masters of communication. They adapt and change their means of communication based on audience and environment. Communication involves an understanding of body language, emotional need, as well as intellectual and maturity levels. Teachers continually adapt to their situations in order to communicate effectively.
