I've been married to my brilliant husband for 11 years. Before that, I was married to my talented first husband for 3 years. 

And before that... well... there was Linda. My first love. ❤️ 

She was my partner as I ventured into adulthood, and moved to NYC. She was there when I got my first big-girl job. She supported my career, and taught me how to navigate an adult relationship. And other than my marriages, she's the only romantic partner I've ever lived with.

We were together for two years during the most transformative time of my life.

And yet... I've left her out of those stories. Why?

Because I can't include her without being open about my bisexuality. And that wasn't a conversation I was ready to have publicly. 

But Linda and I caught up over the weekend... 20 years on from the inception of our relationship... and spending time with her (literally laughing for 10 hours straight) reminded me how she helped shape the person I am today.

And how unnecessary it is, in 2025, for me to hide that side of myself.

Eeeeek! Alright. I said it. It's out there now. Oh god.

Here's a weird, intimate fact you probably never needed to know--

I fall asleep to Seinfeld every night.

Other than it being (obviously without question and I WILL absolutely fight you on this) the best sitcom of all time, thus wrapping me in comfort like a warm security blanket as I drift off to dreamland, it has one other unique quality that makes it perfect to fall asleep to:

There's no loud obnoxious theme song that jolts you back awake when the episode turns. 

So once I'm asleep (usually after about an episode and a half), I stay asleep, and Netflix just shuts it off after a few episodes.

It's a perfect system.

I finally tried Dubai Chocolate.

I guess I was expecting some sort of spiritual experience. Like a monk whispering affirmations into my mouth while I levitate gently off the floor.

Instead, it was just a damn good candy bar. 

But I'd still choose a half-melted Reese's over it any day.

I’ve been surrounded by asshole world leaders all week

We just wrapped up what’s known as “Gridlock Week” here in NYC.
However, you might know it as the United Nations General Assembly. 

193 heads of state and foreign ministers descended upon New York for the 80th General Assembly, and their mere presence in my neighborhood erupted in chaos at every turn.

🇮🇷 My block was shut down because the President of Iran was staying at the hotel across the street.

🇺🇸 I got trapped in President Trump’s motorcade on 5th Avenue, and missed a doctor’s appointment. (Apparently so did France’s President Macron, so I’m not alone in that one.)

🚨 And the sirens have been goddamn relentless.

Before I was a writer, the UN General Assembly was just a massive inconvenience that I dreaded every year.

But becoming a writer inspired one of the most positive mindset shifts I’ve ever had—

Shitty Experiences = Great Stories

These days, I view the world through the lens of storytelling. When bad things happen to me, I try to surface meaning from them, or at the very least, frame them as entertaining anecdotes.

This doesn’t just help me deepen my well of content — it actually makes me a happier person.

So the next time you’re stuck in a frustrating situation, just remember that your worst moments make the best stories.
