Brave Boost Leadership supports executive leaders and their teams with coaching, facilitation, and consulting to get confidence and clarity on where they're stuck, how to move forward, and how to lead from a place of thriving connectedness.

We serve driven, passionate, people-oriented leaders who want a research-informed and whole human approach to leadership support. We help leaders who feel the weight of complex responsibilities and the overwhelm, burnout, stuckness, and sense of untapped potential for growth that can come with those responsibilities. I'm celebrating two years of running my business, Brave Boost Leadership! Thank you to all the clients who chose me as your leadership facilitator, consultant, coach, and speaker over the last two years and to every person and community who has supported me along the journey. What better photo to share than one in the car on the way to facilitate a leadership workshop!

Thank you to those who shared in the struggles, listened deeply, offered sage wisdom, held space to think and dream, connected me to opportunities, and pushed me to keep going when it got tough. 

Here are a few of my top lessons learned this year:

~ We need other people to live a happy, successful life and to make the most impact in our work. Though I'm a solopreneur, nothing I've accomplished was completely solo. Our people and communities lift us, shape us, and equip us. 

~ "You have permission to fail." I've been adapting Amy Edmondson's advice on embracing intelligent failure and stepping forward in uncertainty when there's a credible opportunity, and I've done my homework. I fail almost every day, and I'm learning to see these moments as learning for forward growth.

~ I'm developing a new relationship with fear. Those moments of unknown and overwhelm that hit, and you think, "What the hell am I going to do?" are uncomfortable. I'm learning that instead of pushing the fear down or letting it take over, I can acknowledge it, ground into what I know to be true, decide on my one next step, and move with courage to keep going.

~ What we cultivate in ourselves determines how we show up with others. Leadership is hard work and hours of practice. It's trial, error, learning, and a committment to make it right even when we don't do it right. The time we spend strengthening our self-awareness, interpersonal skills, communication abilities, and strategic and systems thinking makes a difference.

I have gained clarity and commitment to bringing Connected Leadership to the workplace. In an age of trying to implement large systems changes and rapid innovation, we can only change to the extent that we are connected to ourselves, others, and our environments. The inner work we do as leaders allows us to create the synergy necessary to lead others in major innovations. 

I'm excited to lead more groups in Connected Leadership opportunities like Mindful Outdoor Experiences, to facilitate workshops on deep listening, how our stories reveal our purpose, change, and connection in the workplace, and to coach both individuals and groups to make major life shifts toward the alignment and wellbeing so many are searching for.

A year ago, I hurt my knee while prepping to lead a Mindful Outdoor Experience at the WOW National Outdoor Recreation and Conservation event. Today, I was out hiking miles up and down uneven rock at my local park. 

I can easily get pulled into focusing on all I haven't built or done yet and where I want to grow to in the future. I've been incoporating more moments to intentionally look back at where I've come from.

A year ago, I felt overwhelmed trying to move, buy a new car, travel, and facilitate leadership workshops in front of groups with a meniscus and ACL injury that made it hard to walk. The challenge that was impacting every daily moment a year ago is now a small tenderness when I hike. 

This practice of reflecting back has helped me recognize that the challenges we face today will mostly be a memory a year from now. This is not to minimize or downplay what's currently hard. It is to put it in a broader perspective. There is always a new possibility. There is always a choice to respond, grow, heal, and move differently. 

This is a reminder to myself and my community that whatever challenges you're facing today, so much can change and is possible in a year, and there is hope on the other side. ☀️
