The Salvation Army Australia

Provides ongoing support and case management to individuals experiencing homelessness, including those with complex needs such as mental health issues and alcohol and other drug (AOD) use. Develops and implements case plans tailored to client goals, including housing, health, employment, and financial stability. Supports clients using a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach and provides appropriate referrals to AOD and mental health services. Advocates on behalf of clients with external agencies, monitors progress, and adjusts supports as needed. Works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to promote long-term housing outcomes and overall wellbeing.

Homelessness Caseworker

Responsible for the initial assessment and triage of individuals. This includes conducting risk assessments, gathering essential information, identifying immediate needs, and facilitating access to crisis accommodation or appropriate support services. Maintains accurate records and works closely with internal teams and external agencies to ensure a responsive and client-centered approach.

Provides guidance and support to intake staff, contributes to service improvement initiatives and ensures compliance with relevant frameworks and policies.

Homelessness Senior Intake Worker

This includes conducting risk assessments, gathering essential information, identifying immediate needs, and facilitating access to crisis accommodation or appropriate support services. Maintains accurate records and works closely with internal teams and external agencies to ensure a responsive and client-centered approach.

Homelessness Intake worker

Provides day-to-day and after-hours support to clients in a homelessness refuge, helping maintain a safe and stable environment. Assists clients with daily needs, administers medication in line with care plans, conducts welfare checks, and monitors for signs of intoxication or risk. Offers crisis support when needed and ensures smooth service delivery during times when caseworkers are unavailable. Responsible for accurate data entry, responding to phone inquiries, and sharing information about external support services. Works collaboratively with the team and applies trauma-informed, client-centered practices at all times.
