Last week, I met someone who co-founded a company that scaled to a £300 million valuation, and still speaks like he's figuring it out just like the rest of us.

• Sounds like something a human would actually say
• Creates just enough curiosity to keep reading

Forget clever. Go for clear.
Forget “welcome.” Go for why it matters.
 
So, what would I fix first?
 
Your homepage headline, because it sets the tone for everything else.
 
It's the first impression.
The digital handshake.
And the fastest way to turn “just browsing” into booked enquiry.

We help [ideal client] get [specific result] — without [frustrating thing your ideal client facing].
 
Try it. Then refresh your homepage and see what happens.

Open your homepage.
 
Now set a timer for 30 seconds.
 
Then ask yourself, if you were a first-time visitor:
• Would you know exactly who this business helps?
• Can you spot what problem they solve?
• Is it instantly clear how to take the next step?

If you're hesitating on any of those, your website might be confusing the very people you're trying to attract.
 
Confused people don't convert.
They click away. Or worse - they assume you're not for them.
 
And 9 times out of 10, the problem isn't your service.
It's the way your message is presented.

Fancy fonts. Jargon-packed paragraphs. Buried CTAs.
It all adds up to a silent “no thanks.”
 
Here's a better rule:

If a 15-year-old can't understand what you do, your copy needs work.

Try this instead:
• Use short sentences
• Write like you talk
• Swap industry terms for everyday ones
• Put your most important message in the first 5 seconds
