I'm the CEO at MWI, a global marketing agency, but I didn't start at the top. I was hired to help out with sales back around 2013. MWI needed help in account management, so I soon moved there, then I built out our account management team, moved into the role of COO, then co-CEO, and finally the sole CEO, but sometimes I feel like a firefighter. Running an agency means it's all about people. Sure, there are systems and processes, but MWI is made of the people on our team, and without them, there is no MWI. In addition, the kind of marketing we do is highly customized for each client, which means it can be a stressful environment at times, although it's also exciting because we're constantly figuring out new ways to help our clients grow. In an exciting/stressful environment, that means I spend a chunk of my time helping our team members, all of whom are leaders in their own roles, navigate the challenges they face day to day. "People" is actually the first of our five core values at MWI. The others are abundance, ownership, purpose, and progress.
