“People buy from people they know, like, and trust.”

Many think trust is established on the first sales call.

Total myth.

By the time you’re on it, the trust gap is already obvious.

Here’s what happens when you haven’t built it BEFORE that first call:

(Otherwise known as “why did I even take this meeting?” energy.)

→ Awkward Zoom calls
→ Overexplaining yourself
→ Convincing someone who’s already half out the door

But when the prospect already believes in you?

The older I get, the more I realize:

Leverage is built on focus.

“Multi-passionate” gets marketed like it’s a badge of honor.

Creative. Empowered. Limitless.

But here’s the truth:

Without focus, those strengths rarely compound.

What looks like expansion often turns into:

→ “Honoring your full self” that spreads you thin
→ “Multiple income streams” that never reach depth
→ “Following curiosity” that keeps traction just out of reach

The risk?

Trying to be everything.
And ending up remembered for nothing.

Take Justin Welsh.

He didn’t launch with 10 offers on day one.

He chose one lane: consulting for early-stage healthcare companies.

That focus built traction.
That traction built leverage.
And with leverage, expansion became possible.

Being multi-dimensional isn’t the problem.

Believing you can skip focus and still win?

That’s the trap.

Because the cost of dabbling is real:

1️⃣ Brand dilution
↳ Your name comes up in rooms, but nobody can say with confidence what you actually do.

2️⃣ Weaker team alignment
↳ Wasted time chasing half-baked priorities.

This isn’t about shrinking yourself.

It’s about building so much gravity around one thing that everything else can orbit later.

Focus isn’t a cage.
It’s the launchpad.

I used to think my addictive personality was a weakness.

→ I could crush an entire sleeve of Oreos in one sitting
→ Work 16-hour marathons, never truly “off the clock”
→ Down 5+ cups of coffee just to keep the fire burning (still guilty ☕)

Moderation? Never worked for me.

But here’s the shift:

I stopped fighting it.
And started weaponizing it.

Now, it fuels one mission:

Driving client results that blow past expectations.

Here’s the truth no one wants to admit:

The world’s top performers like Bezos, Nadella, and founders scaling from zero to 7+ figures aren’t balanced.

They’re obsessed.

Obsessed with creating value.
Obsessed with serving at the highest level.
Obsessed with making outcomes inevitable.

Turns out, obsession isn’t the problem.

The real trick?

Choosing the right obsession.

“AI is going to replace jobs.”

Great. Let it.

Because the thing that’ll destroy your business faster than AI?

Silence.

I remember staring at my first LinkedIn post like it was a live grenade.

Inner soundtrack:

“What if I look like an idiot?”
“What if nobody gives a damn?” (spoiler: they won’t)
“What if I say the wrong thing and it lives here forever?”

So I stayed quiet. Played it safe. Ghosted my own story.

And then it hit me like a freight train:

What if silence is the most dangerous move of all?

Because silence has a brutal price tag:

You get stuck competing on price (aka: the race to the bottom).
You hand the mic to everyone else.
You get outrun by people who aren’t better…just louder.

AI can do the tasks.
AI can mimic style.

But AI cannot replace YOU.

It can’t feel the lump in your throat before you hit “Post”
It can’t plant a flag in the market the way only YOU can.
It can’t tell the scar-story behind your perspective.

What makes you untouchable isn’t efficiency.

It’s your voice. Your story. Your positioning.

And you only earn that by showing up.

Silence keeps you replaceable.
Voice makes you undeniable.

Congrats.

→ They drain your time and sanity
→ They want EVERYTHING for nothing

Meanwhile…

Premium buyers don’t play those games.

No drama. No nitpicking.

Because premium buyers don’t buy hours.         

They buy outcomes.
They buy certainty.
They buy YOU.

🚩 Red flag filter: 
Premium buyers want outcomes. 
Bargain hunters want discounts. 

That’s why I recommend writing every post to one person.

The right buyers feel it.
The wrong ones filter themselves out.

That’s the difference.

“I’m not landing clients on LinkedIn.”

Heard it a hundred times.

Said it myself too.

Here’s the truth:

It’s not laziness.
It’s the broken playbook you were sold.

Most people pick sides:

Post LinkedIn content and pray for engagement.

Or DM & beg for business.

Both are only half the game.

Posting without DM’s? Visibility, no bite.

DMs without posting? Chasing strangers.

No wonder it feels awkward.

The enemy isn’t you.

It’s the false choice: content OR outreach.

The win?

Forget “pick a side.”

Run both lanes.

Content builds trust.
Conversations close deals.
