Having connected some of the dots between our oppression of other animals, our oppression of humans and our destruction of the living world, for the past several years I have been working on issues related to animal freedom, social justice, agroecology, sustainability and food system transformation. I am a founder and director of Animal Think Tank (www.animalthinktank.org.uk) a grassroots organisation building a mass social movement for Animal Freedom in the UK. I am co-editor of the book ‘Rethinking Food and Agriculture: New Ways Forward’ (www.inclusiveresponsibility.earth) and co-founder of the Veterinary Vegan Network (https://www.facebook.com/veterinaryvegannetwork) and Ethical Globe (www.ethicalglobe.com). I have been involved in social change for most of my career, having worked in the international development sector from 2003 to 2018. I have worked with NGOs, foundations, government ministries and international research and development institutions. My work focused on conducting research for rural development projects in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. This ranged from planning multi-million dollar projects to assessing their impact on poverty, food security and livelihoods. My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and by international organisations including the CGIAR and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN (FAO). I was born in the UK and have lived and worked in the UK, Switzerland, Kenya, Guyana, Malaysia and Ghana. In addition I have undertaken short-term projects and consultancies in Uganda, India, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, Zambia, Mozambique, St Lucia, Bangladesh and Sierra Leone. I have a PhD in Development Economics (SOAS), an MSc in Development Management (LSE) and a BSc in Economics and Politics (Bristol).
