InboxKit just acquired The Playbook Agency (Acquired by Inboxkit).

20 days from first conversation to signed deal.

A few months ago, I noticed someone buying a crazy number of inboxes on our platform.

It was Abbas Somji👋🏽.

He was running one of the fastest-growing Clay agencies in the region. So I reached out to ask what he needed.

He sent me a list. Features that would help agencies stop drowning in fulfillment. Products that would let them build recurring revenue without the "we should build SaaS" trap that kills most agencies.

We shipped the first feature in a day.

Finished a full product offering within a week.

Abbas and I flew to Inboxkit HQ. Spent a week with the team. That week turned into long conversations about where agencies are headed and what's broken in the space.

That's when he told me what he'd figured out.

He was converting churned retainer clients into infrastructure customers. Every $5k retainer that walked became $1-2k/month in recurring infrastructure revenue.

His infrastructure revenue was growing faster than his agency revenue.
Read that again.

The "side business" was outpacing the core business.

By the end of the week, I knew two things.

One. The firepower that got us to $12M ARR isn't enough to get us to $100M. We needed more.

Two. Abbas was the person to lead it.

So I made him an offer.

Not just him. His entire team.

Twenty days later, The Playbook Agency is now part of InboxKit.

This is not InboxKit becoming an agency.

This is InboxKit going all in on helping agencies scale.

$12M ARR. Nine people. Zero investors.

Now I'm going for $100M.

Sounds absurd. Maybe it is.

But I want to document the entire journey in public.

The wins. The failures. The decisions that felt right and turned out wrong.

I've been heads-down building for a while now. Products, team, systems.

But in the back of my head, I kept wanting to share what I was learning.

Not because I have it figured out.

Because I think building in public makes you better.

You learn from the people watching. They catch things you miss. They ask questions that sharpen your thinking.

Why bootstrapped?

Because I don't want to chase someone else's dream.

No investors telling me what growth should look like. No board meetings where I justify decisions to people who aren't in the trenches.

Just the freedom to build what makes sense, run experiments that might fail, and stay frugal enough to get creative.

Bootstrapping teaches you things that raising can't.

When every dollar matters, you think differently.

Why do I think $100M ARR in 2 years is realistic?

The velocity we're growing at. The products we're building.

But mostly: the team.

Nine people who think "good enough" is an insult. They don't want to beat the competition. They want to make them irrelevant.

I got lucky finding them. Or maybe we found each other.

Either way, they're the reason this isn't just a dream.

I've tried to post consistently before. Failed every time.

This time I want you to keep me accountable.

I used to be the founder who got uncomfortable when someone mentioned entering my space.

Years ago, a friend told me they wanted to build something similar to what we were doing.

It didn't sit well with me.

I didn't say anything. But I felt it. That knot in your stomach. The mental math of how this could hurt us.

I was insecure. Even though things were going well.

Recently, I had a conversation with another founder. They were stressed about a new competitor. Couldn't stop talking about it. Watching their every move.

And I realized I didn't feel that way anymore.

Somewhere along the way, I shifted.

Here's what I think changed:

I started spending time around founders who welcomed competition. Not fake "competition is great" talk. Actually welcomed it.

They helped me see what I couldn't before.

More competition means customers get educated faster. You're not spending all your energy explaining why the category exists.

More competition means everyone stays sharp. You can't coast. You're forced to keep building.

More competition means customers win. Better products. Better pricing. Better service.

Which is ironically the whole point of building in the first place.

The insecure founder sees competition as a threat to their position.

The secure founder sees competition as proof the market is real.

I'm not saying I never think about competitors. I do.

But I don't lose sleep over them anymore.

These days, we're building something internally where we help our team members go from engineer/PM/sales to entrepreneur. Give them the blueprint. Connect them to the right people. Make noise for them. Support them fully.

Some of them are already building in our space.

And we're their biggest supporters.
