This is an excellent model, but I get that it may not jump out to tell the story. Point of note: the information behind it is immensely important. CIOs/CxOs today must move from follower in the strategy exercise to leader and champion. Not for "IT" things, but the utilization of technology for BUSINESS things. They are the interpreters of the tech to business outcomes who help craft the innovative ideas to create internal efficiencies or an external "wow" for products and services for their organization. It's looking through a different, outward-facing lens, partnered with the other areas of the organization to drive lower costs, greater efficiencies, cooler products/services that customers will embrace. AI Agents vs Agentic AI: Not Just Semantics—It’s a Whole New Game There’s a lot of buzz around AI agents right now. But not all “agents” are built the same. Please, if you have not done it yet, you should read this! This fantastic new paper offers one of the clearest breakdowns I’ve seen between AI Agents and Agentic AI—and trust me, it’s more than just academic jargon. Here’s the simple version: ✔️AI Agents are like smart interns. They take your prompt, maybe call some tools, and complete a well-scoped task (think: scheduling a meeting, summarizing a document, generating a quick report). ✔️Agentic AI, on the other hand, is like a team of experts—each with a specific role—collaborating, talking to each other, splitting tasks, adjusting plans, and working toward a shared, high-level goal. The evolution goes something like this: → Generative AI (reactive and prompt-based) → AI Agents (tool-using, goal-driven, but task-limited) → Agentic AI (multi-agent, memory-augmented, orchestrated autonomy) Use cases 👇 🟢 AI Agents = customer support bots, internal search, email filtering. 🟠 Agentic AI = research automation, robotics swarms, strategic planning.
